Most excellent.

Two people have been convicted of animal cruelty after foxes were thrown to hounds at a hunting kennels.

Paul Oliver, 40, master of hounds at the South Herefordshire Hunt, and kennel maid Hannah Rose were convicted at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.

Evidence was obtained by an anti-hunting investigation team using covert cameras and a tracking device.

Four people have now been convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

Two other defendants, Julie Elmore and Paul Reece, pleaded guilty to an allegation they committed the offence while transporting the foxes, rather than killing them.

A fifth defendant, Nathan Parry, was cleared of all charges against him.

Rose, 30, was acquitted on one of the four counts she faced.

The maximum possible sentence is six months in prison.

District Judge Joanna Dickens said she would consider reports before deciding whether she would impose jail sentences.

Two guilty after foxes thrown to hounds

Another two pled guilty to similar charges and one was acquitted.

"Relocating in the wild " yeah, right ...

Interesting.

Are we sure it was for killing a protected species? I'm fairly sure foxes aren't protected.

Up until now, I thought that the hunting with dogs law had mostly been successful in prosecuting working class types with running dogs.

twelve and sixteen weeks suspended I think.Thought there was supposed to be an "exceptional reason" for suspending a custodial sentence wonder what that was in the case of this pair?

"
In her sentencing comments the judge stated that the "hate campaign" against the defendants, people calling them up and harassing them had affected her decision on sentencing, alongside the length of time the defendants had already had the case drawn out for before trial. This is why defendants' faces are blurred in pictures and names and details are not often made public before court cases - perceived "bad behaviour" by anti-hunt people can mean lesser sentences are considered for those convicted.

The judge also considered the fact that the defendants had lost their jobs and homes and were taking anti-anxiety meds due to the drawn-out process."

The drawn-out process which was drawn out by *checks notes* hunt supporters smearing the copper involved in the case?

Non-custodial, 12 & 16 month suspended sentences. Sick fucks, no justice.

Disgraceful
If losing your job and home is now considered a punishment enough and removes the need for a custodial sentence then there should be lots of others before the courts looking for the same

Bloody hell, 2 of my guesses have been right recently on here- this and the Ruiz boxing one. I had better post something similar on the Scotland football thread for tonight’s game and cash in on my winning streak

From the BBC article the copper who was cleared: "The person who made the allegation works in the farming community and has close links to the South Herefordshire Hunt. He is not one of those charged."

I would have thought perverting the course of justice would have been an appropriate charge.

Tight community down there.

Herefordshire's one of those twat counties where loads of people fly the Union flag. Guess the morons don't have a county flag.
