Former players...

Corey Addai is generating headlines after his showing last night. In the first half he completed more dribbles than 17 of the other players and his Opta touches chart shows him all but playing right back at points.

I would imagine one of Ravan's maps would look much the same, but with fewer touches inside the box.

Croydon had 2 ex-Hamlet players on the scoresheet - Pingling and Michael Phillips. Michael Kamara and Junior Savane also in the squad for the final and played a part in the match.

Phillips was on loan from Barnet, so never technically "our" player. It's a shame he was struggling with a niggling injury that restricted his game time almost as soon as he arrived. I'm sure having him fully fit for the final few games would have kept us up. He's comfortably a National South player.

Pingling scored the opening goal in a 4-1 win on his first league start, then got injured in the next game and never managed further than the bench after a while out. It seems he wanted to leave Hamlet for more game time and initially went to Hendon. I got the impression he's based at Brixton when he was a triallist last summer and I googled him for more background, so that's close enough for Thornton Heath. We mainly used him as a left winger, which I didn't think was his best role. For me he's a left footed striker.

Don't remember him playing or Hamlet but older fans may remember Carl McCluskey playing against Hamlet for the likes of Hendon. He's done quite well for himself since retiring.

Carl now runs The Chancellors at Hammersmith, which is at the forefront of the high end pizza boom. Royalty and England footballers are among those seen eating there.

Ahhh, I just assumed Pingling was Croydon based as he spent time at Croydon FC and teams easy to get to via East Croydon. He's a really talented striker, but injuries have been his major problem, but when fit he can do it. Reminds me of Reise Allassani, in the sense that they both have raw talent but just injury prone. I saw Allassani in the 17-18 season at Dulwich a few times and he was amazing, such a shame he had the injuries.

Mark Ricketts is the new Assistant Manager at Boreham Wood.
He'll be assisting Ross Jenkins, who built the very impressive Oxford City squad that won the National South play-offs last year. That looks a pretty good combination for a newly relegated club looking to bounce back.

Joe Felix to York City.

One of 4 players they’ve signed today, including Ollie Pearce (also from Worthing) who scored against us for Bognor in the 2017 play-off final and Ashley Nathaniel-George who played against us for Hendon in the 2018 final.

Not an ex player himself but some of you may be interested to hear Les Cleevely's son, Jack, has taken his first steps towards management. He's signed up as player / coach at Eversley & California in CoCo Division One for 2024/25. He's working under a young coach / manager called Dan Goodall who has a very good reputation locally.
