Former players...

Quade Taylor scored twice for Corinthian-Casuals in a 4-2 win at home to Uxbridge, only their second win since November with only 3 draws since Christmas. Former Peckham Town keeper George Legg was sent off for Uxbridge at 2-1.

It's not the ex-Peckham keeper George Legg, it's another one with exactly the same name and playing in the same position!

I always thought the Peckham George Legg was good enough for a higher level, so naturally assumed it was him when the name appeared in goal for Hanwell last year, then Uxbridge. Any idea whether the Peckham George has played for anyone else since leaving?

Paul Barnes is leaving Corinthian Casuals at the end of the season.
I thought he might have been in it for the long haul, developing a young squad then keeping them together. They were in free fall when he arrived and I think he changed almost all the players during his 4 months or so, but Quade Taylor was the only one he recruited I'd heard of. They picked up no more than 10 points from around 20 league games in his tenure.

Craig Dundas has been released by Sutton. He must be well into his 40's by now so did very well to stay throughout their EFL spell.
He's 43, and was the oldest player to make his Football League debut since WW2 a few months after turning 40. It looks like he was primarily the club's fitness coach in recent years. I recall him playing (and scoring) against us for Croydon in 2001, and we signed him a couple of years later.

Now aged 35. Bonus points for never wearing tracksuits or trainers off the pitch.
Conversely, I once saw him wearing a flat cap during a Carshalton warm up. Renegade. Went on to score a 'perfect' hat trick.

Get that he's no spring chicken but that doesn't seem to be an obstacle for Hakan. Could see him being managed through a season, much like Mills. And, with the best will in the world (and risking heresy), he'd be an upgrade, in my opinion.

Blimey, remember him from the old days. Didn't he break his leg or something and there was a fundraiser for him?

Carved out a good career, didn't think he was that good back when with us

Yes, he broke his leg when an opposing defender pushed him into the onrushing goalkeeper after only a handful of games for us. A really dangerous foul that wasn't even penalised. He was out for over a year, scored from the bench in a memorable home win against Kingstonian on his first game back (a photograph of him leaping high into the air in celebration was on the clubhouse wall for several years and may still be there) but he never consistently regained his best form.

The rest of the CoCo League will be pleased. Bar the other three sides in the play off they pretty much universally wanted Croydon to go up. With Farnham already up, that would take the two money teams out from this season. BTW don't be surprised if you see changes behind the scenes at Croydon Athletic with days of the Playoff final.

BTW Jersey are one of two amateur sides in the league apparently. Not sure who the second is though Sheerwater are strong candidates.

Jersey are a bit of an anomaly. One of their supporters told me their weekly spend is roughly the same as Farnham's, except it's on travel costs rather than player wages. Their location obviously means they have a fixed pool of players from which to recruit. You're not going to join Jersey unless you live there, and you're unlikely to join a rival for more money if you do. Their natural level, like Guernsey, is probably Step 4 and I dare say they'll get there within the next year or two.

Jersey also have issues with midweek travel. Mainland teams don't travel to them midweek so they do a lot of midweek travel. At least four of the current squad don't travel to the mainland midweek due to work requirements.

Edited to say people who have left the island for the mainland sometimes fly back to play for them. It tends not to last long though, they soon decide to sign for a local mainland club instead. Last season they lost their main striker to Marine after he got fed up of commuting back from Liverpool Uni.
