Former players...

That's a shame. He wasn't everyone's cup of tea but a solid, committed presence in the season he had with us. Decent centre back at NLS level. As someone who essentially retired from playing due to injury myself he has my sympathy.

Michael Phillips has joined Hastings.
That's a fairly impressive signing for an Isthmian League club, assuming he's now properly fit. Paul Barnes said on the Hastings Twitter he tried to sign him for us, presumably on loan when he went on loan to Gloucester a month before eventually joining us.

I wonder whether Hakan was interested in bringing him back? Then there was also that issue with him failing to refund people when he cancelled his coaching camp.

Another blast from the past - Ashley P Robinson Robinson turns heads
I saw him playing for Whyteleafe against Croydon last season and he was carrying a fair bit of timber, but his class was obvious.

I vaguely recall him wasting a penalty in a pre-season match at Whyteleafe 9 years ago, when he briefly returned as a triallist, then we got another one and Ashley Carew (who I think was appearing in our colours for the first time) buried it.

I've rarely seen a player look so completely out of his depth in our colours.
Probably slightly harsh, but I remember thinking he looked like a supporter who had won a competition to play in a first team match. Also remember Luca Levee replacing him at half time and looking little better.

To be fair to Leathers, he had a loan at Maidenhead last season and judging by their Twitter they were pretty positive about his contribution, so could well have been he was the right player at the wrong time.

Also, nailed on that he scores against us if he stays there this season.

Solid yes committed to the club and team, I beg to differ
I am talking solely about his on pitch contributions. I don't know the man personally or have the level of inside knowledge you do. I did chat to him a few times before games and didn't strike me as a ray of sunshine, but everyone can have a bad day.

Who was the forward who made his debut away to Marlow many years then it transpired we’d apparently “signed the wrong player”? Believe he may only have played that single game?

Trevor Collins. We signed him from Wivenhoe at the fag end of the Jim Cannon era. (I missed that game, one of only two league games I missed in a decade.) He scored in a defeat and played a handful more games, then left when Frank Murphy took over. He obviously lived in the Essex/Suffolk borders area, as all his other clubs before and after playing for us were up that way. Wivenhoe finished bottom of the table that season with about 12 points but had beaten us 1-0 at Champion Hill a week or two before we signed Collins, which I think was their only clean sheet of the season. The goal was scored by their other striker, Paul Fraser, who was a real handful. I remember noticing they wore 9 & 10 in the match, but were listed the other way around in the programme. I wondered at the time whether we may have put in a 7 day approach for Collins by mistake, thinking he was Fraser.

Returning to Leathers, I'm sure he has all the technical attributes of a good young midfielder, but he showed no confidence at all. He was 19 but played like he was 15. He didn't seem to trust himself to attempt anything more than the simplest passes, and seemed to back off while holding a position rather than committing to a challenge. He made Levee look dominant by comparison. When the pair of them started together in the London Senior Cup tie at Hendon it was embarrassing, although we nearly rescued the game from 3-1 down after they were both replaced.

Jordan Green I believe 😂😂
Whoops! He took 4 like that for us, and always scored, but I always felt it was inevitable one of them would end like this.

I think it was Mu Maan who attempted a Panenka in a league cup shoot out and just chipped it gently into the hands of the waiting keeper.

I don't like any penalty kick that doesn't involve keeping your eyes fixed on the ball and striking it firmly into the corners or the roof of the net.

Looks like Reise is a free agent and wasn't retained by Sevenoaks. Think Step 1 and 2 is a bit beyond him at this time. Needs a decent injury-free season under his belt.

Thought he might land higher than that after the season he had
Money in Scottish football is terrible, even in SPL most outside the Old Firm are on £1,000 a week tops. I had thought he'd be the obvious choice to replace Van Veen at Motherwell or give St. Johnstone an actual goalscorer.

However on Googling York have just been bought over by a Canadian billionaire so possibly throwing money at players proven at National League level.
