Football and coronavirus

Quite a decent article. I knew Chelsea were up to good things such as Refuge and support for NHS staff but didnt realise how much impact such gestures were having.
(Its a pdf file I think)

I gather Klopp wnats footie to continue but Frank wants a break?
There are many matches off this weekend. approx. 30% of footballers dont want to get vaccinated - really!

Interesting January transfer window coming up. Would you sign a vaccine refusing player as a team manager? Players are an investment and if that player does not want to protect their health they are worth less and more risky.

Also a lot of teams are going to hold onto players they would have loaned out to protect from Covid squad depletion.

I'd recommend everyone who can, safely, to go and watch a game this weekend. I think it's going to be our last chance for a couple of months.

I'm with you on this. I tried getting the attendance figures for both Liverpool and Chelsea's games last night but there were no stats for Anfield and only 13,333 at Chelsea. Doesnt sound right anyway (Everton had thousands there) but my point is vaccine passes and negative test results are not reliable enough against this new wave which is spreading like wildfire. Within all those people in attendance last night the Omicron variant must have been well busy.
Klopp is normally bang on but I do agree with Frank on this one and yes, let's have a break.

One of my colleagues is am arsenal season ticket holder and went to the game on Wednesday night. He said he didn't see anyone checking for covid passes or negative tests at all. 😞

Exactly. Passports aren’t worth the paper/app they are written on. If anything they increase the risk due to the increased queuing!

The passports thing was mentioned on the radio this morning. We went to a car show at the NEC a week or two back. Not a single person was allowed in without a passport or an on site test. And they were made to wait for the results. Everyone then had their temperature checked.
Cinema 2 days ago, the website said we all had to have track and trace. No one even deemed to look at it.
I imagine it's safer being outdoors at a footie match and not sure how effective the passport thing is. We all know track n trace is crap.

Super Soccer Champs 2021 season continues unabated on my phone - Spurs face real Madrid in the CL and Arsenal in the FA Cup...I think we have the league sown up.

(seriously though Super Soccer Champs 2021 might be the best football game Ive ever played, and its on a phone, highly recommended, fast and furious)

My Saturday watching football has taken a hammering . Fingers crossed for Boxing Day but it could end up being a day in the bars .

Guy's a fucking hero.

Bugger, one of the things I was looking forward to over this rainy and Omicron-riddled Christmas season was watching a load of Premier League games on Prime!

I bet a load of them are called off. :(

Can't say I blame them though.

Me too however it’s the TV contracts that are forcing teams to play weak squads or bringing back players from injury too quickly .
