We are booking a campsite in the centre of Bath for four nights over the festival - does anyone wanna bring their van too and camp with us?
We don't have a van, but we do have a car and a tent. Would that do?

Yes, they accept tents - why not contact them and ask them if you can pitch next to our van - we already booked space for an awning as well as the van, anyway, it may only be as simple as paying for the extra adults in the party.

Edited to add: Baltic Wharf

Edited to add - the site is Brizzle not Bath!

I'm a bit lost about which festival you're talking about there, LDR and pinkmonkey

Ashton Court - but theres no camping onsite so I took the opportunity to book ourselves four nights on a site in the centre of Brizzle so we can make a long weekend of it.

Make the most of the camper and all that.

Cool -- we'll be staying with friends in Bristol, so will be on site at Ashton Court for both days.

Stig was there last year, but I've not been since 2000 (my one and only visit, ever) so looking forward to it loads ... :)

The maker sushine festival is on the weekend of 26th July for those who know....

Can't post up details unless I have more info, Ben ...

Later this evening I've finally ordered myself to do an overhaul/update to the main list.

Apols to all (especially Freespirit ;) ) for taking so long to do this ...

More soon ...

anyone want my invite?

Maker is an invite only affair this year, although there maybe tickets available later. I wouldn't get too worried though, it's one of the worst festivals I've had the misfortune to attend :(

I've just looked at their website too, and I can see why you reacted like that ;) :D but it doesn't on the surface of it seem TOO bad ... ???

Would be interested to hear Ground Elder's opinion ...

Will leave it off the list for now though, as it's invite-only.

<heads off to update list generally>

I'm convinced someone I know goes to this - I kept asking her about it last year and she'd say - 'Oh, it's invite only, very exclusive,' in a 'you're not coming', tone of voice.

Oh well, shite in that case, if that's true!

I can see why organisers want to keep some smaller festivals ;) secret/unpublicised, to keep them from getting too popular/mobbed. But there's ways and ways of achieving that, and exclusive private party wouldn't be a way I'd favour.

MAIN LISTS NOW UPDATED!!!

New additions include the Newcastle Green Festival, a free, 10,000 person Green/Community Festival organised by Urban 75's very own Free Spirit and friends.
Saturday 30 April to Sunday 1 May, FREE!

:)

Its a great little festival if the weather is good. Its right by the beach like a holiday. Lots of different kinds of music, not a lot of hard dance or anything but is well chilled out. Bit of a family hippie style event. If you want an invite you just have to ask then on the contact page of the website.

Hmm, I've been to a couple of Maker Sunshine's. They were so dull the first one I spent most of my time off site and the second one I was so bored I did an oil change on the van. One year I had 5 spare tickets but couldn't think of anyone I disliked enough to give them to.

I did enjoy the Jelly Jazz night and the incongruous village craft fair I stumbled upon one afternoon. Every festival should provide an opportunity to buy yoghurt pots with varnished pegs glued around them ;)

Well I liked it. But im finding it hard to decide between that and global gathering this year. Hippies or gurners.. I just cant decide.

Here are some JAZZ festivals for you all!

Cheltenham Jazz Festival
27 April - 2 May 2005

http://www.cheltenhamfestivals.co.uk/frame_festindex.cfm?FEST=MUSIC

I think I may well go to a few of the gigs at this festival (I havnt seen it posted elsewhere on this thread). Highlights include Mr Scruff on the Saturday, Ornette Coleman!!! on the Sunday, Joshua Redman on Monday followed by Herbie Hancock. thats some serious JAZZ for those who like that kind of thing.. Ive never been to it before so I have no idea what outdoor stuff they may have, but they usually have a free thing or two at these events.

But I have been to the Brecon Jazz festival in the past,
12th - 14th August

And had a brilliant time! They usually have big acts in the main hall and littlel stages and venues around the town and a lottery funded Jazz-Theatre thing. Its also an unnoficial welsh beer festival and theres always a friendly mix of pissed up locals and beard scratching-panama-hat-wearing-white-socks-and-sandals-types. Its a great excuse to drink lots of BRAINS....

Dunno how I left out Brecon Jazz, many many people (including non Jazzers like Stig, who's worked there) tell me it's an excellent beer fuelled few days! :)

Updates to main lists very soon ....
