Festival Season 2005! Some dates and details.

Think that's looking most likely at the mo :)

Got an invite to stay at a mates in Bristol for it the other day too. Save my pennies for Beatiful Days I thinks.

A little bird tells me that Nik Turner and numerous other ex-Hawkwinders who are collectively known these days as Space Ritual are strongly rumoured to be headlining Strawberry Fair this year. So get yourselves down to Midsummer Common in Cambridge for some top quality freeby space rock & Glasto warm up beerage complete with authentic travellers & doggy on a string. :D

anyone been to sonar festival before? it looks interesting n im wondering if you can camp or must get a hotel room.

Excellent news re Solfest in Cumbria. Last year it clashed with the late Off The Tracks but this year they have moved it forward a week to the August Bank Holiday weekend. So there is an alternative to the junior pyromaniacs conventions at Reading & Leeds. :D

Solfest Website Here

Confirmed acts include Shane McGowan & The Popes, Glen Tilbrook, Peatbog Faeries & Baka Beyond.

PS WOMAD tickets go on sale on Tuesday. They're charging an extra tenner if you want to turn up on Thursday this year and only the first 5,000 are at a discounted rate rather than the usual cut off date at the end of May.

The Wickerman Festival takes place near Kirkcudbright (south west Scotland) from 22-23rd July, so far the line up includes The Stanglers and Dreadzone. I went for the first time last year and it was great fun, very laid back and they even burn a giant wickerman at the end!!

We went to this for the first time last year. I highly recommend it if you like old-school type festies. I can't make it this year as it' s the same weekend as my wedding!

I quite fancied going to the Derby Rock & Blues Custom Show but this will clash with my honeymoon. If heavy or prog rock is your thing, this is the festival for you!

Off the tracks is on from 27th-29th May and again on 2nd-4th September. Highly recommended if staying up drinking until silly o'clock (like 6am) is your bag!

Nope. Bulldog is in Staffordshire, this one is in Derby.
Oh  I knew it wasn’t in London and up North somewhere but the Geography of the UK isn’t my strong point

I went a couple of years ago and it was great judging from the pictures I saw I have to admit I don’t remember much about it, I was into all sorts back then.

So here is another one for the list: http://www.bulldogbash.com/

I’ve been to Derbyshire but I can’t remember what I went there for, I remember Derby because we went to a place called Burton (sp) and really did have a piss up in a brewery

Kinelll!! (about WOMAD tickets).

I'd have missed that

That SONAR may prove to be of interest ..... :D

<gives himself severe telling off as several updates to main list are well overdue>

WOMAD are rubbish. The tickets are on sale today, but only on the phone, not online.

I pondered on the Glade festival but after reading the efestivals boards and their shitty rules on campervans (no entry from campervan field back onto the site between 11pm and 6 am), we decided to go to Ashton Court instead.

We are booking a campsite in the centre of Bristol for four nights over the festival - does anyone wanna bring their van too and camp with us?

I've PMed you moose. I have no time to sort WOMAD tickets til this afternoon at the earliest ... so I'm hoping you'll be able to let me know when the online ticket sales are up and running ...

Just booked my Spring Off The Tracks tickets - yay! :D :D :D

Who else is going there? I know a few you have your provisional Festie calendars/budgets/leave worked out already!

Sorry Riff -- we're staying down here (with the £5= Kingston Green Fair just down the line from Waterloo on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 May  )

We'll be at the September one anyway :D but maybe we'll see you at Glasto ....

Would love to but haven't yet been able to persuade Mrs Tort that spending her birthday under canvas is a good idea :(

Should be. Just need to beat campervan doctor round the head this weekend, otherwise we're going in a bloody tent.

Hello! Welcome back from India, I should have replied to your PM but I keep putting PMs off, thats everyone, not just you

Ashton Court -- we'll both be there for both days, see if you can't sneak away from wedding for one of them. Bloody people getting married, it's the cause of more people missing festivals than anything else, weddings should be banned between May and September :p

Shh and Beautiful Days -- both certain for me ; Stig will make Beautiful Days but maybe not the other, we'll see!

And see you at WOMAD, we already have tickets, you'll love it! Come and join us and moose and mr moose and maybe one or two others for laughs and general festial lazing around ...

Mmmmm FESTIVALS .... the season approaches ....

Must do some updates to the main lists, I've been neglecting this thread. I'll try and have a go at it this w/e ...
