Female Rappers?

Missy rules - surprised there's so much reticence about naming her. Album after album of sustained excellence

to be fair I think Missy being the best female rapper ever is a given :)

Hmm best female producer too??

Missy definitely gets the prize for the best all rounder.

I just found this hunting about youtube. No ladies in it but it's still fucking great:

Why don't women rap like this?

yeah i forgot mc lyte she is probably up there as the best "mc" in terms of old skool sense she had good flow n lyrics... i forgot da brat n all she has done she good stuff

what happened to floetry n all.. was alot of hype around them a few years ago

To be fair, MC Lyte kind of burst out with Bad as I wanna be.... and then got steadily worse for years and years.

I hear her Gangstarr stuff was alright, but she always seemed average at best.

you've all missed out the best female rappers from the UK

c-mone and tempa from OUT DA VILLE!! (lesser mention to sophie hill)

FROM NOTTS!!! hahaha! who woulda guessed

Lil Kim's first album was good. Mainly because I loved this lyric on the first track (I was a kid)

"I used to be scared of the dick
Now I throw lips to the shit
Handle it like a real bitch"

if you were talking female MCs / singjays whatever in dancehall, you'd be in luck.. Lady Saw, Tanya Stephens, Patra,

She did a good song with Patra.

i've got a Patra album at home. What a waste of a CD case that was. Couple of songs, but you'd be pushing it with the hip hop definition.

Who was that lil' female rapper who worked with Public Enemy for a while?

I was referring to the song she did with MC Lyte. 'Romantic call' I think it was called.

Honestly, one of the best MCs I've seen in recent years, male or female, was a wiry little MC who played with Soul II Soul a couple of years back. Thin frame, gravelly voice, can of Stella in hand, smiling air of menace. No idea if she could hold a show on her own, but if you ever see a MC called Chickadee you should be in for a treat

She MCs with some breaks acts. Think it's Evil 9.
