Fargo (TV series)

do you have Amazon Prime?
it's going to be on that in the UK since we don't have Hulu. from 22/11, one day behind the US.

I don't know if C4 will get it later like they did for the previous seasons. I hope so. because Prime is shite.
Yes we do! Great news. When it was on Netflix, it was several months behind the US release.

i stumbled across the wonderful Lindsey Anderson film 'If' recently on Youtube of all places. just watched it again, and it has lost none of its impact after 50 years. An important movie, i would argue its essential viewing, and very high on my list of best films ever made. The only mild criticism of the Youtube version is that it has annoying subtitles which i cant read because Italian (i think) isn't in my gift. Still utterly brilliant.

Agreed - but why post it on the Fargo thread...:)

I immediately noticed that the protagonist is called Dorothy Lyon, which sounds like a overt allusion to The Wizard of Oz. In series 4 there was that whole monochrome episode in Kansas that ended with a twister.

There have also been many nods to The Shining, especially in the music, some of which sounds like a direct lift.

I didn't even know there was a season 4. Back in 2020 my partner was dying, I lost my home, and I effectively retired from my career so it wasn't high up on my list. And dammit, I've just quit Amazon Prime, mainly because even when it does have good stuff to watch, it's impossible to find out about it, they only ever boost complete shite like that Lord of the Rings bollocks. So I guess, during the Xmas holiday (I don't work during school holidays) I'll sign up for a month, it'll also let me order a few things I need for free postage, so it pays for itself!

7 episodes in and we're loving it. Can't find any connections with previous series, but imagine some obscure thread will crop up linking them.

Seasons 2 and 4 remaining favourites, so far.

I didn’t think that much of S4, but whereas S2 is arguably the most edge-of-seat gripping, S1 holds its own solely on the shoulders of Billy Bob Thornton, whose performance and character in the season are a genuine treat.

Agreed that he's a great performer, but would still have season 1 and 3 at the bottom of the list. As much as I enjoyed them. Overall, Fargo is one of the greatest crime/dark comedy shows of the last decade.

IMHO, obviously.
