Gold was one of the attendees at the January 6th fiasco at the Capitol. A previously vaguely democrat-leaning, but not politically active doctor, who'd become a very prominent anti-vaxxer and a Trump supporter, she'd gone to the Capitol to address a fringe "health freedom" rally which didn't take place. She followed the crowd into the Capitol and took the opportunity to deliver her prepared speech inside, most of it inaudible, but caught on multiple cameras. At a stroke becoming a singularly low-hanging fruitcake as 'the Empire struck back'. Raided and arrested by the FBI twelve days later, her profile was raised immensely, enabling the fund raising for her non-profit organization to go into overdrive in the period before her trial in June last year, where she was imprisoned for sixty days and fined $9,500. And then the fun really began.
