Endorse it 2010

Old school chaos in a traditional 'back of a truck' style ;) at that place for sure!

Looks like Stig might offer them some competition this year though ... :p

you can't be worse than the fucking tea tent in the camp site , it took them half a day to make a round of teas and they decided that most of their menu was too complicated to make !

They were utterly, utterly shit, I agree.

I reckon we could make a fortune here.

Come to Rambo for your reasonably priced top quality breakfast in the morning. :D

In fact, we'll park the camping cooker outside in the field kitchen, you can cook it yourself.

I wondered why you quit your job. And why we've been stockpiling gaz cannisters.

Hmm.

So I'm on frying duties, and you're coercing the punters out of cash for things we've run out of? :D

I know that place, though I've forgotten the name of it as well.I had an OK breakfast rom them myself (albeit at a different festival), but that story makes them sound well dodgy ... :hmm:

It was on the far side of the arena from the Welsh breakfast place though.

they're called Malinkey's and they're friends of mine. they are trying :D bless em.... it's unfortunately not intentional, but a bit hopelessly disorganised some of the time!

By all accounts they never coughed up their site fees for Bearded Theory last year! :hmm: Admittedly they did sustain a fair amount of damage in the tornado but they were up & running again in time for Glastonbury. Always thought the nosh in there was OK though.

Serious question an' all

re disability access..

Right, attempting this tho am a bit pissed

Never been to EiiD even though so many folk I know go, am invited, guest listed etc. But it's the unknown innit?

Coz going by website which tells you fuck all really - it seems a bit rough and ready- which is fun BUT not easy if you can't carry things about much, get knackered etc. If I manage to get a lift in a car- can you drive them to campsites, is there plenty of room, far to walk, what are toilets like etc?

Been on the website and doesn;t tell me much. Not sure if it would be pointless to email them. I know they have a family field but fuck that. Last year I went to Bestival and it was brilliant, largely coz I got in the disability field which made life much easier. So am going to do that again this year. And buoyed with the success of that, largely BECAUSE of that provision, thinking Endorset too.

Any relevant experiences to share / attitude of staff or organisers (which makes all the difference to me really)?

Cheers guys :)

Dooby you don't have to e-mail them just ask Flounder. He head EiiD honcho! :D

Yes it is a bit rough & ready. That's the charm of the place. But it is small. Nothing is more than 5 minutes walk away and the car park & camping fields are usually fairly close to one another. Toilets are pretty good too on the whole although I can't recall any specifically reserved for disabled use off the top of my head.

Cheers Tort. I figured it was pretty small which helps of course, I do prefer my festies that way.
Sounds like the main point to consider will be travel there, which I'll fret about nearer the time. (Can't believe I'm planning this far ahead, I usually struggle to organise myself to the end of he day)

The camping and the car park ARE a bit of a trek - nothing on a glasto scale but a good 20mins walk or so over uneven ground.

The EiiD lot though strike me as the lot that if there IS something they can do to help, they would :) u75 type would invariably lend a hand too innit.

Bolded bit : but wasn't that because they had to relocate the carpark at the last minute last year, what with all the mud that had built up just before the fest, between the main road entrance and the main arena?

Would not the usual carpark still be right next to the campervan field? Much nearer to the arena entrance as I remember? That's where lots of people were moving their cars to on the Monday in readiness for leaving, after all the mud had dried up in the weekend's sunshine :)

But you are right, the EiiD people will be helpful, of that we can be sure.

Dooby, I second Tort's suggestion of PMing Flounder through Urban. He'll be able to answer everything.

Thanks all! I'll sort out who and when etc then PM this guy.

A 20 minute walk on rough ground AND carrying camping things would fuck me completely so hopefully it won't come to that this year. My problem is that I look to the untrained eye to be perfectly able and therefore a right whining lardarse :D (Not claiming I'm not that as well, like :hmm:)

Anybody taken their kids to Endorse It? The Big Chill is not chilled enough for us any more, so I'm thinking of taking the family to something like Endorse It, Sunrise, or Shambala...

Any or all of those three are pretty kid friendly mwgdrwg :)

(I'm not a parent but I've seen plenty of parents and kids having a great time at all three)

Vauxhallmum I think you'll be fine at Endorse It so my advice is stick to your plan ...

Endorse it has quite a good kidz area.. its next to the hippie freak-out zone iirc. Nice chai tent aswell.

What he said -:)

Basically if you are disabled there is a disabled camping area, with disabled loo(s) right next to the entrance of the camping field. you can drive right up to here if you have the appropriate disabled badge. If you need a carers ticket, email Big G and he will take it from there ( these are given out at the festivals discretion). This year there should also be viewing platforms in the two main tents.

Our disabled policy comes from working with the government dept ,from the disabled people that work for the festival and from customer feedback. Please do take note that emailing the festival with feedback is better than getting on boards etc and putting complaints up as I may miss them and then nothing gets done/replied to/sorted.

It is a big party in a field, in the middle of nowhere. it does get dark
( torches recommended), but there are lights that illuminate the majority of the site, whilst enabling campers to be able to sleep. Yes we will do all we can to help/answer questions - just please don't leave it to the last minute as most of us are either on site or frantic in the two week lead up to the festival.

Hope that answers questions and if not - please ask :)

Hullo Flounder! :)

Lovin' your festival work, in fact the 08 EiiD was one of my highlights of my summer. Deffo my 2nd best festival of the year.

I have a question.

As brilliant and marvellous and ace as your festival is, have you thought what could make it even better is an hour or two of lovely, brilliant pop music and the merest smidge of positive hip hop? You might not think it would fit in but believe! People love pop music more than they think, or know or admit. I guarantee it. I bet you cash money should you let oooh, say a pair of girls play some pop music for an hour or so, people would come and dance. It'd be like Field of Dreams. Only less Kevin Costner. Or baseball. Obvs.

maybe you should be more specific about which pair of girls you want to play to some pop music :p

Same here hun. I have a blue badge so they let me drive as close to the field as I could go. It's fucking frustrating when you don't look like there's fuck all wrong with you. I've given up trying to get people to understand. But the festival people were sweet as.
