Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

The Danish king is jolly cross about Donald Trump's threat to occupy Greenland and has changed the Coat of Arms to give more space to Greenland and the Faroes. He also renews Denmark's own revanchist claim on Prusian occupied South Schleswig.

TBF as posted above in a hidden reddit link this is a bigger issue for Denmark right now than Trump and seems as much about sending a message to Greenland than Trump

Trump's reaction to Trudeau stepping down:

“Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State. The United States can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat. Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned,” Trump posted to Truth Social.

“If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them. Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!”

I knew he would try and take credit for this, and spin it his way. What a pos he is.

A warm welcome to a new employee :D

I heard on the news earlier that many of those who resigned from his admin after J6 are now crawling back. Cowards. Betsy Davos was mentioned, that multi millionaire with the brain of a titan who was previously put in charge of education, and was supremely unqualified being as thick as two short planks . Her brother was something to do with those mercenaries (I'm thinking Black Rock(?) but would need to check), so no doubt he has something lined up for that criminal. It's going to be a shitshow, to put it mildly.

Sounds good to me!!! Not sure if Canada or Ontario would get it, but it's seems a good response to Trump's ambitions.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has snapped back at Donald Trump’s frequent taunts about treating Canada as a U.S. state with a counterproposal: buying Alaska.

“You know something, to the president I’ll make him a counteroffer; How about if we buy Alaska and throw in Minnesota and Minneapolis at the same time,” Ford said Monday while speaking with reporters about the threat of looming tariffs and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announcement that he’ll step down.

Trump has for weeks mocked Canada by referring to Trudeau as “Governor Justin Trudeau” and calling Canada “the 51st state.”

It would have been a more effective taunt if he had named two states instead of Minnesota and a city in Minnesota

If Canada joined the US, presumably the result would be that the Republicans would lose both the House and the Senate?

I'm sure they could gerrymander the boundaries so a few 10s of millions of extra voters wouldn't hurt them. They've been doing an excellent job of that at the state level...

Nice essay on January 6 terrorist coup attempt

January 6th was Successful

Today is January 6th and I feel a certain tedium and impatience about marking the anniversary of the Capitol Hill attack four years later. There seems to be a growing consensus that it, along with all of Trump’s other menaces to constitutional rule, is not worth taking seriously. The line on January 6th is that even if it was a coup or insurrection attempt, it was a farce and a failure. But this is wrong. In retrospect, it was a great political success for Trump. Not only because he got away with it, but because of how he could fracture and polarize the response. Attention paid to it is now considered sour grapes: part of a discredited political strategy and a remnant of liberal sentimentalism that is fast going out of style. He came back from it and rallied even those who initially condemned it or were frightened by it to his side. And he made the defense of the constitutional order a partisan issue.

Junior's taking a trip to Greenland, not on official business but to talk to people. Hopefully he gets to talk to a very hungry polar bear.

Conservative MP Rasmus Jarlov posted on social media in English that "this level of disrespect from the coming US president towards very, very loyal allies and friends is record-setting".

:D
