Dog sitting - Dew Claw crisis!!!

Sounds like you're doing just fine, might want to take a closer look though, sometimes if the claw splits when it's ripped out, it can leave a little slither poking out which the dog can catch on stuff. (dog version of a hangnail basically) Can be hard to spot, especially on longer haired breeds. If there's an arkward bit left in, that'll have to come out.

Thank you!

Hopefully the vet will spot and take care of that on Monday if needs be. The claw looks pretty intact though, no chunks/slivers missing, so hopefully none left hanging.

She was very squirmy when I cleaned the wound and changed the bandage last night, there were a few little yelps too, I felt terrible but just told myself that it is the equivalent of us saying 'ouch' ... :(

Can you train dogs to bite their toenails?

I've had 3 dogs that do it naturally. The way my youngest goes at it I'm supprised she hasn't ripped her dew toe off by now. :D
