Cyclist Deliberately Smashes Car Window Over Baby

I would take a similar line to the cyclist.

If someone endangers me I will let them know. And if close enough to me then a smack on top of their car, then that seems fine.
If they then have a go at me, I will up my game a bit.
I'm not going to go full on discokermit stabby. But I've taken the odd wing mirror off, in the past. And its always funny to raise both windscreen wipers.

I wouldn't smash a window, though. Seems a bit strong.

Well, I'd have a crack at them and/or their car. Just a different bit of it.
I don't think there is anything wrong with banging on someone's car, or knocking their mirror out of line (bonus points if you did it in an ironic way because, like, the way they were driving implies they don't need mirrors) if they endangered you. But putting a window through is beyond shit, kid or not and I hope this idiot is arrested before they move on to worse things.

Like cardboard "art".

I'd agree, in most cases I see on the road.

But she could have really done something super dangerous to the cyclist, for which a window smashing could be understood. We have no idea. its just a one sided article.

Nothing justifies that level of violence well after the danger has passed. He chased the car down after the initial incident, to smash the window.

She wasn't even driving, her learner partner was. I always give extra leeway to learners (partly out of courtesy, mostly out of self-preservation). Nothing justifies smashing a window.

Gnnnf...struggling with this one...almost sympathised with the cyclist but then smashing the window rather than verbals was over the top...on the other hand if learner+baby makes you drive like a cunt then lose one of them or practise somewhere else...but in the end 'Barnaby' and 'Jasper' so fuck them.

What if the baby was aiming a nuclear weapon at you?

Ok, besides that then actually I can think of a few instances where the woman in the article might have omitted some detail where I suppose a window-smashing might have been justified, if the cyclist had no idea there was a sleeping baby in the car.

They both stopped at lights and...
- she got out and keyed his bike
- she laughed about his lycra
- she stuck cardboard on his bike

Hopefully the police will apprehend this man so we can get his side of the story.

ah, well, you see...
I'm one of those people that believe in certain situations, some people deserve to get their stuff fucked up. :D

What if she was an artist and sketched his bike?

My dad smashed a council office window in late 60s to protest about corruption in local council building contracts. He went to court, pleaded his case himself saying you'd be justified in breaking a window to bring attention to a building that was on fire, and got off.

You wouldn't call him a cyclist.

Where?

Just above the red and white parasol about half way up on the right

That was annoying but I had to find him  Better resolution next time please

Another thing; I'd go fucking wild if some driver jumped out of his car and kicked my bike wheels in, or cut my brake hoses. But then I'd have their number plate and a good chance of gaining compensation and justice through our trusty legal system.

What hope has this poor women, besides her description of her assailant having "see-through glasses, Lycra and a pony-tail" (that should narrow it down, lol).

It's time cyclists started registering their vehicles and showing some clearly visible number plate. But not pay road tax, that would be a bit OTT.

Really? You'd commit criminal damage to gain the moral high ground in a road-rage incident?
The one occasion I can think of was when a taxi driver lost his rag with me being in the middle of the lane. He drew along side me and tried to hit me with his car a couple of times, whilst shouting and swearing. Not at a fast speed, mind.
I tried to damage his car with kicks and punches, in hopes that he would stop and get out - as I have vast advantage against him, rather than no advantage of a bike against a car.

Well he sounds like a knobber and I'd be hard-pressed to say that isn't a reason to smash his window at that moment because you were understandably angry. It also sounds like attempted GBH (or murder? IANAL). Smashing his window could have made you look like the aggressor if that incident ever seen a court.
