Cold War Aviation Porn

I never thought I'd ever see it again but somebody has posted video of the Jaguar simulator on Twitter.

I worked on this at Lossie in the mid 80s when I was an RAF sponsored student. Those hundreds of hours making Airfix models in my bedroom as a teenager finally paid off and I greatly improved many of the models on it while getting paid an absolute pittance.

I think they have the baseboard (?) of one of these on the wall at Shuttleworth…

Could have gone on the Ship thread instead.

Either that plane's a LOT bigger than I thought they were or landing on that boat would be a real challenge - LOTs of G's when stopping, I'd imagine

What's that model plane doing on the boats roof - is that for training?? - a "stimulator" I believe they're called

:D I saw that the other day and wanted to post it, I could smell Downward Dog all over it, looks like I was right, hahaha. But I was on my phone and didn't have time to fiddle about.

The Lossie Jaguar wing were a great bunch and very welcoming to a clueless student, in stark contrast to the Lightning wing at Binbrook where I had spent the previous summer...

Jaguar at Lossiemouth was my number one choice when it came to assignment after wings but the opinion of the instructors was that I wasn't ready for single seat low level tactical aviation so off I went to Tornado.
