OK, let me think of a pthy title and I'll bang up a link later today.
Spitfire's Walter Mitty thread of Military Curios is the first one that springs to mind. Might need some work.
Just make the U75 military discus in thread title easy for the boys and girls at Cheltenham to remember...
Hot to Hotwire a Challenger and Other Revolutionary Tips?
I was thinking more what's hot on the camouflage catwalk this season?
On the the personal camouflage front I can confirm the Arktis' Comb Arid disappears into Kurdistan like nothing on earth.
It's possible that there'll be a new camouflage rollout for the Tanks - ATDU have been trialling a digital pattern...

Yes please to that thread idea! History, strategy, news, developments, etc. What sub-forum though? But please ban likesfish from it.
Missed the sub forum bit earlier. Was wondering that myself.
I’m a New Posts user so am not bothered at all.
Theory Phil Hist is a contender but is in politics forum.
Transport is possibly too specific.
Bit specialist for General
I’m thinking Transport as most of the contributors will be in there already. And it will probably consist mostly of knee stroking pics of lethal things with wheels or wings. Old and new.
Open to suggestions. I’ll get it sorted later tonight.
Stick a link to the thread in here when you've done it, too.OK, let me think of a pthy title and I'll bang up a link later today.

My first experience of something like that happening was rather more mundane, but was a brace of what I now know to have been Jaguars, flying nap-of-the-ground around a hillside near Bakewell, as I was walking nap-of-the-ground around the same hillside. My very first memory of a Vulcan was about that close - one screaming uphill just above the treetops on the Salen to Acharacle road after a low pass along Loch Sunart, ear-splitting, until the sound of the three in formation that rapidly followed it obliterated every other noise. Awesome..!
Yeah, whilst not a perfect match I too think it’s the best existing forum.Transport seems to fit best? Ah, yeah depends on how you use the forums. I just look at the whole list, although have a limited amount as I have about half of the sub-forums on ignore.

I've had a side parting ever since
I remember it being all over in the space of a few seconds, from initial mad crescendo of roar to a slower rumbling departure. I'm not sure if I was more traumatised or awed - certainly, it was, ah, elemental. I probably thought "fuck me" even if I probably wouldn't have had the presence of mind to say it.I got run over by a Jag while cycling along the A66 upto Brough. My breeks showed the Dragon's Breath of courage that day I can tell you....

Or perhaps camouflage might be better call it 'Puppies and Flowers'
Speaking of noise, I read somewhere that the decibel noise levels endured by Bear crews were/ are absurdly high. Those engines aren't on the quiet side, apparentlyI love the Bear. Such an icon of Soviet-era engineering, too. We can't get jet engines that are efficient enough? Well fuck it, we'll brute force a different approach. That and the number of solutions they have which amount to "if you throw enough lead/high explosives at it, it just might work".

Couldn't find any in the 1970s, I see. Probably inaudible over the constant, all-encompassing sounds of disco.
The B-52 completed sixty years of continuous service with its original operator in 2015. After being upgraded between 2013 and 2015, the last airplanes are expected to serve into the 2050s.
I must admit, I was a bit about the notion of military aircraft using civilian airports - is it a very common thing, or just a US thing, or something really exceptional?I almost miss the days when you'd be delayed for a few minutes by the same at Keflavik on a regular basis. Though I hear the Americans might be going back to Iceland?
If you ever fly to Zaragoza in Spain, you land at what appears to be a Spanish Air Force base with a small civilian terminal.I must admit, I was a bit about the notion of military aircraft using civilian airports - is it a very common thing, or just a US thing, or something really exceptional?
