"What remains of democracy is chiefly the right to choose between commodities" - Noam Chomsky

“The war against working people should be understood to be a real war…. Specifically in the U.S., which happens to have a highly class-conscious business class…. And they have long seen themselves as fighting a bitter class war, except they don’t want anybody else to know about it.”

Where is it rooted - we know...

WikiLeaks Cables Reveal Profound Hatred for Democracy on the Part of Our Political Leadership

Afraid not, sorry...

But a bit more boring and factual, plus recent such document can be found - search for Rowntree Foundation and their recent reports (last 3-4 years) and you will see US and UK at the bottom of the world's social mobility "league", with the respective educations systems as the vehicle that perpetuate the inequality in these societies...

And the education systems might not be the greatest in the world, for the money they pay for it - but their privileged students are prepared in terms of networking, they learn to speak "properly" (with a "proper" accent), which pieces of cutlery are used for which course etc. etc.
