I've always been struck by this but yesterday more forcibly than ever. We were following a large-looking white car that turned out to be an Insignia, then a slick low-slung one that proved also to be an Insignia. Their colours were white and dark grey respectively. Is this a thing? If so, is it my mind then that associates white with biggish taxis and vans, or is it an objective fact that some colours make some cars look bigger?
Dimensions of first generation:
Length 4,830 mm (190.2 in)
Width 1,856 mm (73.1 in)
Height 1,498 mm (59.0 in)
2nd generation:
Length 4,897 mm (192.8 in)
Width 1,863 mm (73.3 in)
Height 1,455 mm (57.3 in)
Maybe it's the two inch difference in height, though it was more obvious a difference when the cars were further away.
ETA Not that I even know what models the two cars were. Oh and one wasn't an estate!
