Yes, but the fact that his seemingly selfless and well-intentioned action was hijacked by the (failing) state and complicit media should not detract from the man's motivation.

Apparently the whole shin-dig was gifted (largely by BA), so I'd imagine such prosaic considerations were not to the fore of the family's decision making. Having seen my (chronic chest condition) partner advised against air travel on a number of occasions, i have to say that the wisdom of long-haul airliner air-circulation for a centurion was questionable.
