Can you identify this bird?

Isn't it American robins that carry the really nasty veriosn of bird flu that you can catch just by being in the same county as them?

Serioulsy tho Stobs do think you should inform the RSPB cos there may be some sort of trend of birds crossing the atlantic, global warming etc and the fact that there now appear to be two of these birds may be important research blah, blah, blah!

The bird in that link has a much lighter beak than the one in the garden.Maybe it's dirt, it's digging up the lawn and it's making a bit of a mess.
I Have just googled the images and the beaks can appear black, depending on the angle of the bird. This is almost an exact replica of the one in the garden:

What a pretty bird

I think you should tell the RSPB - but pretend you're really famous and you can't give your exact location for fear of stalkers.

Doesn't Claudia Schiffer live near you? Put on a German accent

Well, I feel much better now. No way could I have been expected to identify an American Robin, I mean, how rare are they?

It might as well have been a nuthatch.

It was probably a refugee from the U.S foreign policy.

A bird in the hand is worth two voting Bush.

Scientific name: Turdus migratorius

A travelling shit?
Turdus is the Latin for thrush....twitchers call small birds they can't identify 'little brown jobs'....perhaps that's an explanation of sorts?

There was something in the paper last week about some woman seeing an american robin in her garden. I think it was the standard - so they definitely are over here at the moment. Or at least 2 are. :D

Yep, and the press are all over it. Give the press a call and see the twitchers turn up on your doorstep :D

Charge 'em ;)

It was out there this morning so I got my camera out but it was too fast for me. I am worried about the magpies attacking it again, they think our garden is their property and they don't like imposters. I hate magpies.

Poor Mrs Magpie :(

You gonna shoot the magpies?

It could be related to the Peckham one or the Peckham one could be it's g/f or b/f

They might die of broken hearts :(

For some obscure reason I am moved to post this joke.

Why did the chicken go to Hollywood?

To see Gregory Peck.
