Are you still with us?Thanks for all your thoughts. So I cooked one big un, sliced up - they didn't taste that mushroomy, but not unpleasant either. I probably had three small slices.
Two hours later, pulse and heart rate seem OK...
More or lessAre you still with us?
Just how many gardens has she been foraging in and has she ever been chased off by angry residents? She believes she has, but has never seen them in this particular garden before...
I could send you some Turkey Tail if you want but they're barely edible, more of a medicinal thing really. I mean I do eat them but they basically taste of nothing and have a texture somewhere between cardboard and leather. These are the kind of things Id like to try, but frankly whatever is available
yum!! frankly ill try anything in the vain hope it might improve my long covid...will PM you in a bit xI could send you some Turkey Tail if you want but they're barely edible, more of a medicinal thing really. You'll get fresh and dried shiitake in Chinese shops. Chagga only really grows up north and I imagine it will be pretty expensive if you can find anyone selling it. Turkey Tail is pretty common on dead wood and it's starting to show around this time (and for the next couple or so months). I get it in the local park. The colours vary and depending on where-abouts on the stump/log it is it might display differently (not always in that sort of rosette fashion). For a + ID check the underside and it should be cream and have tiny pores, rather than a jelly like underside or gills.BUMP
Id like to buy some not usual edible mushrooms. Anyone know a good place to buy?
Are dried mushrooms as nutritional as 'fresh'?

any other leads? would buy online
I wouldn't trust any app to be honest. It might give you some clues, but I wouldn't stake my life on one.Ive just remembered ive got a mushroom ID app, never used it. Leaf Snap works really well, but Im wary on this.
No. It will have gone off by now.
yes, they are growing in pots & trays that I planted various herbs , peppers , tomatoes, and pine-tree seeds. Some pots are indoors and some outside. The only common denominator is a bag of old peat / compost I used to bulk up the pots. God only know how long that bag was in the greenhouse. Have no intention of eating them, but would like to know if they are edible and so if the herbs / tom's are edible .... if that makes sense.....What are they growing on? RiderOnTheStorm
I'm gonna say no don't eat because they look like they are in a pot/ growing on substrate of unknown provenance & composition.
I dunno what they are but suspect the above will limit reliable id
sorry to resurect an old thread, but its just what I want to know .... can I eat this mushroom?
Found these sprouting up in my flower pots. I think I have some contamination in an old bag of compost. I have looked them up in a mushroom guide I have and I follow the key but no 'answer' seems very reliable to me.
I did a spore print and they are dark brown. The shape changes as they age (different ages in the pics) and gills underneath are light brown (maybe cream?) . Any help gratefully received.
Also, is there any good apps out there for this? I have tried Shroomify and Mushroom Identify but neither are giving me good results . If I could narrow it down to half a dozen possibilities then I could look those 6 up and get closer to real answer.
thx ... will do ... (and the rest too)... will let y'all know if I get anywhere . TaSome good mushroom ID groups on Facebook.
Take photos of the gills. And a cross section of the stipe (stem) and cap as well: the way the gills attach are an identifier.
Spore print isn’t as useful as the other points, but can complete the picture.
Don’t use apps.
They don't look very wavy...
