Cabinet reshuffle today (15/9/21) - does anyone care?

Nadine Dorries in as culture minister signals full speed ahead for the bogus culture war.

Gove in as housing secretary suggests Johnson thinks something needs to actually happen there.

Those are my takeaways so far. Otherwise it's just out with old moral vacuums, in with the new ones.

None of them have any background for what they're doing but bloody hell it really is the worst reshuffle but then there isn't a lot of talent to choose from.
Buckland most likely got the push because he hadn't got any dodgy deals under his belt.

You couldn't make it up...

The former trade secretary has previously spoken candidly about her diplomacy skills - telling the BBC's Nick Robinson in 2018: "I don't think anyone describes me as a diplomat... and I'm not very diplomatic."

Truss made the admission during an interview for Robinson's Political Thinking podcast, when asked about her views on the then-Brexit deal.

...perfect for...

As foreign secretary, Truss will lead the UK's diplomatic mission across the world and be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Britain's image abroad.

She will also be involved in issues of national security, oversee the MI6 intelligence service, honours and Europe.

Bottom 4 demoted or sacked.
But Buckland had 8th best membership rating...wonder what the problems was with someone who reportedly was a staunch believer in the law?
I reckon he said something about the PM breaking the law somewhere along the line, and he had to go. Probably some imminent legislation change that's contrary to the Human Rights Act.

Yep. gotta be something like that.
Odd career move joining the Johnson regime if he has 1 iota of integrity re. rule of law.

I suspect there was much flattery and whispers of 'but you could really make a difference' etc.

In reality considering the shitty stick he was handed given all the cuts (the court system is breaking, I'm surprised the number of cases in backlog was less than six figures tbh) it's amazing he lasted so long

Though it says much about the Tory backbenches that Dorries is promoted.

Who do Labour have that are markedly better?

Remember that the public were so impressed by the wealth of talent on the Labour benches that they delivered a large majority to the opposition.

I'm not disagreeing that currently, the talent in the Conservative party is woefully lacking, just pointing out that Labour are no better.

What has completely fucked parliament is the plethora of MPs who came in by the 'PPE 2:2, work as a researcher for an MP, fight an unwinnable for the experience, then be given a winnable'. Fuck all life experience, no experience in a commercial job.

Dorries as Culture Sec is one of those Kissinger death of satire moments. Can't help hearing the announcement in a Chris Morris list of absurdities voice:

'Donald Trump elected President.... Taliban seek trade deal... Nadine Dorries wrests Christmas back from woke Grinches...'

They have one or two who are positively shinning lights compared to the rest of the ghouls that sit on benches and are feted by the press.
Personally I think there is more ability in the average employee than in boardrooms, elite universities, private schools, and boys clubs. I just think an experiment in introducing democracy to the social and economic life of people in the country would work better, than what we have now.
