Brrrr! Who's got the heating on?

Have you put the heating on?

I have to confess to perceiving the first signs of autumn - extra layer in bed, long sleeves on the bike. :p
I may soon have to acknowledge the conkers and Michaelmas daisies :p

This is the problem with multi-zone thermostats. I've no idea whatsoever if the heating's been on. I suspect not, as it's set to 16-19C (depending on time of day) and the flat holds its heat well. But I can't be sure it hasn't clicked on at some point

I do have a house that faces into the prevailing wind and was sleeping with the widows and doors open front and back.... and only a knackered duvet, perhaps no tee shirt ...but I had my electric blanket set to "1" last night...

(I'm 59 you know :p )

Heating not on but...the lovely early morning warmth of recent weeks has disappeared. It feels more like September than August in my garden at 6am. And that's a bit depressing because it reminds me I have to go back to work soon.

I shut the windows for the first time this summer last night, and yesterday was the first time I didn't have my fan on since I bought it during the heatwave. I hate having the windows shut.

Had to put heating on this morning, after I donned another layer. Can't seem to get warm today. It's raining and allegedly 16 outside. More like 13 or 14 at best.

I’m in Glasgow this week and it’s freezing! We are flat sitting and the owners kindly turned the Heating on before they left

Anyone south of the Humber and east of the Severn and who isn't actually old or ill: get a grip! It's August. Haven't you all got a jumper and a warm vest? When I was a child - oh, a very long time ago - the heating at school didn't go on until October half term no matter the weather.

Joking aside, it's interesting to see how much warmer people keep their homes these days. Rooms that didn't use to be kept warm (eg hall) now are. Bedrooms are warmer. (Yes I can remember when Jack Frost visited in the night. My father went on a trip to the US in the '60s and reported that the homes there were grossly overheated. :D)
How warm is your home? (from 2011)
UK homes kept 4C warmer than in 1970, report shows (from 2014)

The old Offices Shops and Railway Premises Act decreed that workplaces where no physical exertion was involved should be at least 16C. Meanwhile
Comfort cannot be defined absolutely, but the World Health Organization's standard for warmth says 18C (64F) is suitable for healthy people who are appropriately dressed. For those with respiratory problems or allergies, they recommend a minimum of 16C (60.8C); and for the sick, disabled, very old or very young, a minimum of 20C (68F).

Anyway, I agree these past few days have been a bit parky. But then it's August: doesn't the weather always interfere with school holidays?

Sat here with all the windows open. Still need the fan at night (can't have the windows open at night because of trains).

Its great living in the South East.
