Brixton Liveable Neighbourhood and LTN schemes - improvements for pedestrians and cyclists

I live in Brighton terrace and work in portslade rd just off Wandsworth rd when I travel to work in the morning my journey takes me nine minutes when I commute home the journey takes 20 minutes or more because I can not use the same routes because of the restrictions Brighton terrace has only one way of brixton road, I can no longer go into concanon rd because of the ltns it's absolutely perfectic I have to sit in 15 minutes of traffic on acre Lane just polluting the air like all the other motorists why can't we have cameras monitoring the residents cars that pay for permits it is totally ridiculous and just a money making scheme for Lambeth and labour
I'm sure you have your reasons for driving such a short trip but not sure why you think rat running drivers should be prioritised to save you 11mins in an area where over 2/3rds of households dont have cars.

Also, why should you as a resident be able to do that route, which doesn't connect to your street but non residents shouldn't? Should the entrance to Trinity Gardens from Acre Lane be made 2 way just to save you a few mins? It's been closed for as long as I can remember.

Welcome from the Lambeth LTN Watch WhatsApp group btw. 👋

If you're able bodied, this is a really easy and safe cycle ride, entirely within LTNs ancient and new, with safe controlled crossing of main roads. I ride this way regularly on my way to site, all year round. Go via Tursntall to Ferndale Road (it's two-way for cycles, but one-way for cars), use the shared crossing over Clapham High Street, go up the West side of the railway via Voltaire and Edgeley Road, left then right over Larkhall Rise (very little traffic here due to the cycles-only railway bridge) onto Brayburn Av. and then use the shared crossing to get over to Portslade.

No hills, no conflicts with heavy vehicles, no sitting in traffic. Free. Keeps you fit. 12 minutes (every time). Even if it's raining you'll barely have time to get wet.

Lambeth LTN Watch WhatsApp group currently mainly moaning about controlled parking zones (god forbid there should be any restrictions on storing your private property on our streets) + moaning about cycle hangars taking up parking places. 🙄

Is a 40minute walk. That’s a pretty typical commute for London anyway. Pretty much every job I’ve had has been c 45mins away (bike/public transport usually about the same)

If they walked that twice per day - they’d live longer ( it’s about 7k steps ) and the money saved on petrol would buy the really good waterproof coat needed occasionally !

Either these people are stupid or they know what they're claiming is nonsense and say it anyway. You can't just add up all the increases at different count points on the same road and claim theres that much more traffic. If you did the same for the reductions inside the LTN (on Lyham Road) you'd get a figure greater than the number of vehicles before the scheme. That's clearly ridiculous.

I know it's flagged as 'opinion' but a smidge of fact checking before publishing stuff that's clearly nonsense doesn't seem too much to ask.

Traffic hasn't 'gone up by 8000 on the A205' - at any point it's maybe gone up by around 3000. but thats within the variation over the years anyway looking at the DFT count point there

I can't even work out which numbers they added together to claim 'Brixton Hill has gone up by 2146' but they've clearly just ignored the count that shows a reduction...
Trying to fact check or moderate posts on LTNs is as much fun as attempting to do the same on trans issues.

Sometimes it's good to get across a popular prevailing point of view - even if I don;t agree with it - and letting people do facts battles in the comments section.

Actually no, it’s a 10 minute trip by bike in both directions, nearly all on roads that have been made comfortable to ride on by LTNs.
There would be loads of Lime/Forest hire bikes available too making it a very easy journey. If it's not pissing it down of course.
