Britain's biggest morons burn cardboard Grenfell Tower on bonfire

It may also be worth the forum's legal experts considering whether the two men aged 49 and the others aged 19, 46 and 55 have committed any offences relating to malicious communications under the Communications Act 2003 (or similar legislation).

Not a legal expert, but I did wonder if the Communications Act could be the best chance of any charges, but does it reach the threshold of 'grossly offensive'?

Clearly it's offensive, but according to the guidelines it would need to go beyond that, and I am not sure it does.

And therefore:
prosecutors should only proceed with cases under section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1988 and section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 where they are satisfied there is sufficient evidence that the communication in question is more than:
  • Offensive, shocking or disturbing; or
  • Satirical, iconoclastic or rude comment; or
  • The expression of unpopular or unfashionable opinion about serious or trivial matters, or banter or humour, even if distasteful to some or painful to those subjected to it.
  • Striking a balance - Malicious Communication Act and free speech
I did see a tweet from some QC reported earlier, but can't find the link now, but his view is that it's down to context & interruption by firstly the CPS, and if they decide to go ahead, the courts.

My gut feeling is that they will not be prosecuted.

All The the action is down south these days - apart from hipster fascists like Nazi potters and an odd cul de sac soi disant intellectual grouping, tower hamlets is mostly stickering under cover of darkness . The glory days of beakon are last century . The motherland of welling is where it is at. Along with penge for the pound shop Britain firsters

Thats addiscombe, not Addington

Nope. Here are the results from this year. By this measure we can say 94-95% of the population there do not support the right/fash:

The names, and their photos, are starting to come out...

THIS is the teen arrested alongside his dad and three others over the sick Grenfell tower effigy video - as his granddad today branded the footage "appalling". Bobbi Connell, 19, and dad Clifford Smith, 49, handed themselves into cops last night after footage of the horrific joke emerged on social media.

Today David Connell confirmed his grandson was in the video - before slamming the footage as "dreadfully bad taste". He blasted: "It's utterly shocking and I don't condone it at all. I don't know what they were thinking. What were they doing".

The pair had been hosting the party at their terraced home in South Norwood on Sunday night when they burnt the effigy. They are still in custody and are being quizzed by cops over the act.

From the Sun, so I'll not link to it.

no you can't, that's a leap too far. the bnp and ukip are busted flushes now, but other fascist groups? perhaps the hostile environment so proudly pursued by the government ticks right-wing boxes. ok, you can say 94/95% of the pop there don't support the right/fash. but you'd need to make a more persuasive case if you wanted other people to believe you.

It may look that way from behind your computer screen!

Ever been there? Did you grow up just south of there? Do you go through there on a daily basis?

Also might wanna check previous elections as opposed this just this years!

"The New Addington wards saw one of the highest turnouts of British National Party supporters during the 2002 and 2006 council elections, which the BNP described as their "heyday decade," however it never elected a local councillor from the party – it's slate of councillors has been consistently Labour. Except on one occasion in 2010, where a Conservative councillor was elected for the first time since 1968. Historically, Labour's strength in the area had been on the council estates, particularly New Addington, but in 2014, Labour support was reduced by UKIP, gauging 24% of the overall vote."

well spotted. now, if only you could find something in tower hamlets to compare with the more recent b&h gigs hosted in welling, that'd be grand.

I don’t follow B&H gigs too keenly, however there was one (or similar) in Scotland a year or two back (Edinburgh?) and I’m fairly certain the entire area hasn’t been written off as racist as a result. There’s also the issue of B&H organisers being coy about the nature of their events whilst booking venues.
Furthermore, B&H gigs attract boneheads from across the U.K. and Europe, they’re generally not catering for the local clientele.

Nothing will happen, enough cunts out there view this stuff as nothing more than “banter”, it’s just the “snowflakes” complaining etc.

These people have never gone away, but they’re emboldened again. I’ll only be surprised if they were the only people making this particular “joke” round a fire this year :(

if i say several things have occurred in an area which lead me to say it's an area of infamy, i mean the sequence to be taken as a whole - as it is as a whole that the events have impressed me.

Their brief will have told them to get themselves down to a police station soonest in the hope of back footing local old bill if they hadn’t seen the media. Hopefully this won’t be the case, a first account interview and then bail while the CPS review if there are any offences, and if they have any sense local CPS will kick it upstairs to whatever special cases are called this month.

Wait and see but as lots have people have said, what’s on the abhorrent video probably isn’t a crime in England.

If they do get to see inside a court I suspect they will overcome their current views and have an all BME defence team...

Whenever I see anything with a po box address in welling, it sends a shiver down my spine
Sorry to lower the tone of discussion here, but surely that must become the first sentence of the great book that will make you rich and famous. Yeah! All be happy for not-bono-ever! Joy. :)

Except that, things being what they are, and people also, it would inconveniently happen that your publisher has arranged your book launch in some big hotel in Welling (other venues being not available)

So you are stuck with an audience full of the mayor or whatever - the fine burgers and burgessesss (my precioussss) all proud that you will launch your book in their town, and give reading of of it.

And then.

.

Racist areas. I assume Tower Hamlets doesn’t get that badge despite also having an infamous racist murder.
Areas known for having those sentiments amongst the population often openly so. Their accents and environment didn't suggest TH to me.

What point do you want to make about TH?
