Brexity overpriced Dyson hairdryers

I've never used a hair dryer but I just looked at what a Dyson Nural Super thingy looks like and I now want one. A friend once said something to me that's cost me a lot of money over the years: "Quality of life." Get the Dyson if you love her :D

That is definitely the line she will take.

I do have a Dyson vacuum cleaner which I bought 25 years ago when I moved into my current flat. I only use it once a month, if that. It is still working ok. Cost £200 then which was quite expensive but what appealed to me was that I didn't need to change dust bags.
I wouldn't buy anything from Dyson now. Overpriced and there are cheaper alternatives.

We have a Dyson one which is used by Mrs W and the Winotettes. It's very good apparently. Mrs W is an arch sceptic usually.

I use a towel.

I have spent an enormous amount on electrical items and styling products to turn my hair from lank, thinning and sometimes frizzy hair to the perfect loose wave and nothing has really worked.

My bedroom is a graveyard of abandoned attempts at the much longed for beachy wave.

Babyliss, GHD, Dyson, Mark Hill, John Frieda etc have all had far too much of my desperate cash (or credit card). 😩

I do think my Dyson purchases have earned their money though. They have helped the frizz and heat damage. Mr Looby has his own attachment for his beard. 👍

Does anybody here have one, and are they worth both the money and the shame of supporting the eponymous arsehole? If so, is there a substantial difference between the arm-and-a-leg entry level models and the “nural” ones which cost half as much again?

Regan has expressed an interest in getting one from the benevolent winter solstice pseudoentity, so we should probably get it in the November sales if the thing will genuinely make her happy and transform her haircare routine.
Strangely enough, I have hands on experience of the Dyson hairdryer as I used one to try and dry my jeans after I got drenched walking around a Welsh mountainside recently.

Can't say it seemed to work any better than the cheapo Argos one I've got at home and it didn't seem to particularly good value given the price of the thing.

But then hair styling isn't exactly my specialist subject and I can only rate its denim heating abilities. Plus Dyson is a shitehawk,

How much? You should get a Dyson Sphere for that price.

Give here the cheapest one Argos do, or better yet a towel, and tell her that if she loved you she would not judge you based on the pure monetary value of a heartfelt gift

Because of the way they work they wouldn’t be as effective as a normal hairdryer I wouldn’t think.

I do know someone who used to press the visible parts of their clothes (collars, cuffs, turn ups) with their hair straighteners though.

General bad cess in the direction of the dyson cunt. Outsourced all his factories to countries with waffer thin labour regs and low wages. Plus his stuff is delicate and breaks.

I’ve got a vacuum cleaner as well. Not as good as my old Miele pet one but it’s pretty good.

I don’t love James Dyson or anything, I promise. 😄
I hated mine. I had to have a screwdriver in my back pocket to do the hoovering and a constant supply of new fanbelt things in the house because the damn thing couldn't manage half an hour without either clogging up or snapping its elastic. I've had a Henry since 2012. Just the one and I have never had to disembowel it. It needed a replacement hose after 5 years.

I've been reading the thread because Mrs D needs a hairdryer. I'll not get the Dyson, she'd not appreciate spending that much money.

I wanted to say, from her experiences, it doesn't matter how good, bad, or indifferent the alternatives are, if it's not the item wanted, there'll always be some level of disappointment. If you can afford it get the one she's asking for.
