bastards

its a fascist coup being egged on by the west
Yes their are bastards I do remember in Lithuania when Lenin's statues are gone big crowds smacking Lenin's statue, seriously is not very nice to see and experience in those times. So we lost socialism, ah we got neo liberism and Margaret Iron lady she so popular in East Europe

Bet they wish that statue was Putin. Fuck you Russia.

If Russia says fuck you back to them theyll be reduced to eating statues. They do more trade with Russia than all the EU nations combined . That trade is dependent upon generous concessions offered by the Russians. The EU hoops they tried to get the Ukranian president to jump through would see the Ukranian market flooded with EU produce, at which point the Russian concessions are over and done with . As Russia wont ...cant...allow the EUs products to be let into their own market without tariffs.

Anyways, now your reduced to cheering on fascists smashing up left wing iconography, well done.

No, the fascist group Svoboda have been identified as the people who took down the statue. And I made no such claim about eastern germany either. Your a liar as well as a fascist cheerleader . I simply said some years ago fascists had turned some parts of east berlin into almost no go areas for certain ethnic minorities. Which they had done, by concerted violent assaults and a number of quite brutal murders.

Nobody's cheering on fascists, dimwit. The people cheering that statue coming down were cheering on the symbolism of telling Russia to fuck off. They want to be part of Europe, not Putin's police state. Odd how you continually rail against all kinds of imperialism with the exception of Russian imperialism.

the people who pulled that statue down are fascist activists, and your openly cheering them on . And making a series of piss poor attempts to deflect after thats been pointed out to you

a half sensible person would just say..dearie me, had i known they were fascists i wouldnt have offered them any words of encouragement . In light of this new information i now withdraw my remarks

but that would take a bit of commonsense

It's the people in Ukraine who are cheering and fighting against the dominance of Putin's mafia state in their country. You're deluded to call them all fascists.

Not entire swathes of eastern Germany then?

theres entire swathes of Berlin and eastern germany were the fascists pretty much control the streets , where anyone of a non german ethnic origin is literally taking their lives in their hands walking through .

You probably see fascists under your bed of an evening.

You probably see fascists under your bed of an evening.

So you don't believe that Svoboda is at all involved in any of this? They're all lovely pro-EU liberals heroically fighting Putin's imperialism?

Because if you don't see the symbolism of a load of Svoboda activists pulling down a statue of Lenin then you're just as delusional as the Putin bum-lickers who think Russia is somehow a force against imperialism.

The situation in Ukraine now is out of control.

Some minutes ago, Ukrainian fascists from the 'Svoboda' party destroyed Lenin's monument in the centre of Kiev.

Now, at 19.00 Kiev time, crowds of opposition in the city centre are saying that their next target will be the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovich. They are calling for the arrest of the Ukrainian government.

There is strong chance that we will now see a state of emergency in Ukraine.

The fascists have also called for the destruction of the CPU office and expressed a desire to kill all of our employees.

That is why I and my comrades will defend our holy house.

Thank you for your solidarity.
Anatolii Sokoliuk

(Head of the foreign affairs department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine)

Ukraine does more trade with russia but belives falsely it can get in the EU and everyone will become rich:rolleyes:

Place is ridouclously corrupt cops usually wont sell their pistols

Russia maybe their neighbours but putain is hardly a nice neighbour. ukraines fucked EU wont touch it with a barge pole and understably they dont want to jump to putins tune.

It might help to link to an article or two that actually mentions Svoboda in relation to the statue.

eg: http://www.google.com/hostednews/af...zA?docId=f5e8ddb3-e598-48f5-9acf-a258abb5ba89

Mind you that article does quite a job of not going into detail about the wartime insurgent army that is associated with the red & black banner.

The protesters installed on the empty plinth the Ukrainian state flag and the red and black banner of the wartime anti-Communist Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which carried out guerrilla attacks on the Red Army in western Ukraine in World War II and even into the early 1950s.

bit old news this but worth putting here

Nazis attack Borotba activists at "Euromaidan".

Borotba activists, which came to Kiev to assist Confederation of Free Unions of Ukraine to spread leaflets, have just been attacked.

The activists were in the tent of Confederation of Free Unions were attacked by more than 30 Nazi paramilitaries. The Nazi militants attacked chanting "shrimps" (this is the way the Ukrainian Nazis label people with anti-fascists persuasions).

Alexander Levin - the leftist and trade-union activist has got his nose broken, Denis Levin was attacked with gas, Anatoliy has got his ribs broken. The tent of of the Unions Confederation was cut with knives. The Nazis broke down loudspeakers and stole electric generator.

One of the major media-managers of "Svoboda" party - Ukrainian MP Miroshnichenko, was witnessing the event.

"We were nearly killed there" - Denis Levin informed by mobile phone.

The victims get medical aid by ambulance doctors. All the three will be taken to a hospital.

Borotba

And while most here wouldn't have the sympathies towards the symbolism of lenin statues as Borotba do, their statement about what is going on and the fusion of the liberal and far right is bang on

Statement of " Borotba "Association About the demolition of the monument of Vladimir Lenin in Bessarabia Square in Kiev

The barbaric destruction of the Lenins' monument on the Bessarabia Square in Kiev, carried out by neo-Nazi militants of so called "Svoboda" (Freedom) party, and other far-right organizations, reveals the true "face" of the kievan opposition, known as "Euro-maidan".

Despite the involvement of a large number of ordinary citizens, political "face" of "Maidan" increasingly consist of ultra-right extremists. From the rostrum of the Maidan today we hear slogans like "Glory to the nation - Death to the enemy!", "Ukraine above all!" Slogans that previously could be heard except on the neo-Nazi gatherings, today sounded at a mass meeting.

The news of the barbaric destruction of the monument of Lenin has not met with condemnation from leaders of the "Maidan", to the contrary - the Liberal opposition support their neo-Nazi sister. We see that the ideological appearance of "Maidan" determines now partly of the liberal opposition, and extreme right-wing neo-Nazi forces.

We see that the European politicians - "democrats" prefer not only to ignore the true chauvinist, xenophobic majority of the "Maidan", but also to indulge them to participate in their actions, thus grossly interfering in the internal affairs of Ukraine. Most likely, the European "democrats" tacitly approve of this shameful act of vandalism done by their Ukrainian political partners .

Kievan events of December 8th have became a watershed, now finally clear who stands for freedom and democracy, and who is simply trying to power and play under the talk about European values. Liberals, both in Ukraine and in Russia showed its willingness to merge ultra-right protest. For the left and democratic forces this should serve as a serious lesson .

Actions of neo-Nazi thugs heavily on the conscience of the authorities. Present regime in Ukraine have steadily grew the ultra-right party "Freedom" as a convenient sparring partner in the elections coming in 2015. Law enforcement authorities condoned the creation of ultra- combat units under the auspices of "Svoboda" and other nationalist organizations .

Monument of Lenin - is not just a piece of granite. It is a symbol of ideas of social liberation, equality, genuine people's democracy, a symbol of the movement towards a new society without rich and poor, free from poverty and exploitation. It is no coincidence that it is the figure of Lenin , as a symbol of social progress, was attacked by the forces of extreme reaction .

The growth of the ultra-right violence covered and encouraged by the liberal wing of the opposition, must end .

We invite all leftists, Democrats, supporters of social progress and justice come together to jointly counter-act to the rise of neo-Nazi pogroms and moods.

They can destroy the monument, but the idea is not to be killed!

There are also EU supporting "NGOs" who lined up with the fash in moldova EG "hyde park"/Basarabia pamant Romanesc

i'll write something on here over the weekend about it

nearly a month on, finally some recognition in the UK media ( from Brian Whelan at channel 4), as to Svoboda's involvement

(although the article there does read like a summary of my posts on this thread...)
You do flatter yourself! I only found this thread now, during my twice daily googling of myself. I have been commenting on svoboda's role elsewhere though.
Never knew you'd been Ukraine or would've called for input. Would have been good to use part of Borotba statement too.

only twice a day eh.....

interesting that in the last couple of days since your piece there's been articles in places like the FT, Washington Post and New York Times, all of which for the first time since the protests began have focussed on both the nature of Svoboda and their structural role in things

the likes of the guardian and the independent however are still blind to it
