Best time to hit the 'Reduced To Clear' section?

Did ok in Waitrose this morning but I went to Tesco for some foil just now and they'd just started doing the final mark-downs

1kg natural yoghurt £1.89 to 30p
Posh no-drain tins of tuna £5 to £2.50
Tinned salmon £1.50 to 75p
Cooked chicken pieces £2 and £3 both to 25p
Edamame and pea salad £2.15 to 15p x2
85% dark chocolate £1.50 to 75p
Cooked baby beetroot with vinegar £1.50 to 54p
4 supersweet plums £2.50 to 75p x2
Cherries £2 to 80p
Spinach £1.50 to 88p
Tesco finest sliced cooked roast beef £3 to 25p
Avocados £1 to 45p x4
Free range chicken breasts £5.24 to 50p

And I got my foil - reduced to 90p from £1.80

There were only two other people at the chilled reduced bit and one of them gave me loads of stuff he'd already grabbed for himself because he felt bad about calling me "young man" when he was stood behind me :D

Got a massive bag of carrots from the tramps buffet for 10p, the tramps buffet at this particular Tesco has been great during the xmas break - no students taking all the stuff.

Gonna bulk out my usual lentil curry with grated carrot, makes it go further and gives it a nice sweet taste

Salmon reduced from a fiver to a one fifty and a packet of stir fry vegetables reduced from two fifty to 39p.
I froze half the salmon and half the vegetables and made a noodley hot and spicy soup with what I'd not frozen. There is enough for three teas for me there, and no doubt I'll cook the same with the frozen stuff sometime hence.
£1.89 for the guts of six meals. That'll do me.

With a couple of weeks off work I've been missing the prime times, which is good in so much as I've made some space in the freezer. Today I return in style....

2kg of garlic stuffed olives for £1! but I was able to use a 60p off anything from the olive bar voucher, so 20p a key!
Lamb breast £2.10
venison chunks X 2 £2
venison steaks £3
bits of stewing pork £1.40
Big bag of white spuds 10p
bag of carrots 2p
bag of parsnips 2p

a round of Hochland: Grzybohranie- 65p

I've had them before, polish popular food. Its like a round of dairylea triangles except the triangles are a little chunkier and each triangle contains a different thing. Mushrooms in one, ham in one, chives in one. Good stoned munch

Oh I love those and haven't had them in so long! The red pepper ones are so good.

Got some salad, fruit and fish for around half price today, plus Morrisons had shitloads of pre-sliced malt loaf reduced from £1.99 to 9p! I somehow resisted the urge to buy all of them because they were so cheap and just not eat anything else for a while  but I did buy 4. Nothing wrong with that, right? :hmm:

carrier bag full of out of date Monster Munch- 0p

my local shop likes me. I don't like monster munch especially, but free is free

Even if you don't like it (I don't like it that much), it's really tasty if you put it in sandwiches with a bit of ham IME

is that like pre-sliced soreen? thats only really bad if you put chocolate and hazelnut spread on it. imo.

Yeah, pre-sliced Soreen. Other people seem to think it's strange that I go to the shops and buy 20 of something because it's really cheap instead of just buying stuff because I want it, wasn't sure if only getting 4 is normal or a bit obsessive.

I don't think its weird, but I do hold to a personal TB standard of not buying ALL THE THINGS because sharing is caring. And the freezer space (lack of).
There were loads of Ginsters cornish pasties in the TB on christmas eve but I only had three because I am jesus, feeding the 5000.

bad time with the packaged mash. I got a pair of them and froze them, really cheap. But when I came to use it the stuff was so claggy on the mixing fork I ended up adding a dash of milk, a nob of butter and then some black pepper. Oh and it needs a dash of garlic puree. At which point I realised I might as well have just made my own from the spuds. Its a false economy, the ready mash.

2 x generic french blue cheese 50p each

2x ready mash 50p each

I'd said I wasn't going to business with the mash again but Ma says she can use them for shepherds/admirals pies. I'm down with that.

nowt wrong with that. stock up when stuff's cheap. and use your imagination to cook it although there are exceptions

3 is far, far too many of those fucking abysmal things. i'll tell people where to go if they get all precious about what is or ins't in a pastie (other than carrots, never ever fucking carrots) but those thing are satan's excrement. some mpoint, I'll take you to the place in a small villiage that is one of the funnest 60mph b roads in cornwall where there's a bakery that is about the size and shape of a lean-to garage . i got told they were the best, i just nodded along to this until I got handed one. they are the best. and you will never touch shite like g*nnsrs again
