It's clearly first period Mourinho. That team was a machine (not always in the most attractive way for a neutral but they were incredibly effective) and all their teams for years were very heavily reliant on what he'd put in place.

Wasn't it failure in the Champions League? You get the impression that Abramovich quite likes the idea of a European super league, and that's the nearest thing to it at the moment.
