BA bring in "clinical psychologist" to "deal with rebel cabin crew" (the Sun says).

danny la rouge

More like *fanny* la rouge!
the Sun said:
BRITISH Airways has brought in a shrink in a bid to strike a deal with rebel cabin crew.

Mark Hamlin, a former drama teacher turned clinical psychologist, is helping the airline form a "better relationship" with union Unite.

The Sun.

Oh God. Former Drama Teacher. This will involve role play, no doubt. I have a feeling this will not go well.

This is not dissing Drama teachers, just that the two worst words in a work-related setting are 'role play'.

Although it'd be easier to explore the smashing of a manager's face without risking your livelihood and liberty whilst in a role play.

No i meant labelling people as insane for being political dissidents. sorry, not in the most cheerful mood today :D

is there any reason to care about BA cabin crew, the ones I've met were complete hedonists and loved their job

Is there any reason to care about a company persecuting union members and breaking employment law?

Hmmm...

I don't by default support any strike, if there is a link to some facts I'll read it I only know from conversations that new staff are getting less benefits now but their lot doesn't seem so bad from what I've heard.

BA management have broken the law by taking away travel concessions from strikers.

They're trying to stop management from destroying the airline. Customers are leaving in droves. Would you pay £11,000 to fly to LA in first class when bosses want to lower the level of service you receive? At a time when Air New Zealand charges £3000 for their premium product to the same destination and that airline is investing in improving the customer experience?

I met these guy's a few months ago but understood it was only new staff that didn't get the concessions, I think they are suffering as a company because they sold a premium product that isn't in demand anymore. I haven't made my mind up on this one really.

They took away travel concessions from everyone who went on strike legally. They also sacked a few strikers.

Premium traffic is as strong, if not stronger than it has ever been. If BA's management get their way they will be an airline that flies London-New York only.

afaik, anyone who was on strike last year had travel concessions withdrawn. This clearly contravenes the trade union relations act.
