The response to this terrible violent killing have been heartwarming. From Tullamore to Brisbane, the diaspora and friends have come out in their thousands to pay respect to her memory and to say "enough is enough".
A woman named Elizabeth, who said she had “narrowly avoided the same fate as Ashling twelve years ago”, said the past few days have been “terrifying and triggering” for her but that the nationwide reaction to Ms Murphy’s murder had been “so important” in working towards change.
This is, indeed, so important that people are voicing their horror and anger at yet another needless hateful murder. It feels like some kind of change is in the air, don't recall this reaction at previous murders in Ireland - and it's a long and depressing list over the decades.
Perhaps the responses to the Sarah Everard murder were some kind of catalyst for action/reaction.
