Apple TV+ recommendations?

Just going to do my semi-regular reminder to anyone who is wondering what to watch, I really enjoyed Lessons in Chemistry

I’m vaguely interested in this new one Apple are promoting heavily - Dark Matter - a sci-fi thriller featuring different versions of Joel Edgerton in parallel universes. Or summat. The trailer is vague, which is a good thing, as they are often too forthcoming with plot details

Started watching this. The level of content Edgerton is teaching in what is supposed to be undergraduate physics is laughable. Conservation of energy? We teach that in year 7. Schrodinger's cat? Are we supposed to believe anyone who chose to do a university physics course hasn't heard of Schrodinger's cat?

I wouldn't sure if Bad Sisters would work as a second series but I'm loving it. Definitely my favourite thing on Apple TV by a mile.

Currently on s2 of Shrinking. It’s very good. Then I’ll do Bad Sisters.
We binged the latest Slow Horses very quickly.

I agree there’s not huge amounts there but pretty much everything I’ve watched has been great.

I was going to cancel before Bad Sisters 2, I haven't tried Shrinking though.

Time Bandits is crap, unfortunately. We have a pretty high tolerance for shonky fantasy series but it was really dire and we had to stop watching.
I watched it all because I'm a completist, but I reckon it's more of a family-friendly show than for grown-ups only viewing. The kid was good in it.

It's not one of their strongest shows, but it's mildly entertaining and it's safe to watch with kids unlike some of the other harder hitting shows.

It's been cancelled, I think, so there won't be any more seasons, and that's no great loss.

Just watched Blitz. Steve McQueen.

A bit flawed but very good and definitely worth watching.

I thought it was terrible.

'Half the population of London in 1940 were black victims, and every single white person was a murderous crook!' :D

Steve McQueen film so you had to factor that in. I thought the set pieces were great and some of the black and Chinese characters were crooks too. And not all the white people were… I liked it.

Still enjoying Silo, but just as I was telling to my OH last week that I hoped they weren’t planning on stretching the story needlessly and that everything would be wrapped up at the end of this second season, the very next morning I heard on TV that S3 & 4 had just been confirmed.

Either the script was originally written to be X seasons long, and if the ratings are deemed unsatisfactory we might not get to see its conclusion, or they’re winging it from one season to the next until they are told to wrap it up by the studio. As per the course with TV shows nowadays. Either way, it royally pisses me off and disengages me from sticking with it :(

There are three books and some short stories to cover, so they won’t be winging it if they intend to follow the original story.

I've finished Bad Sisters so I'm thinking it's time to cancel my subscription.
I've tried with the other dramas and I hate them all.
And I've watched all of Slow Horses.

Severance s2 starts on 17 Jan, but it’s almost certain to be a weekly drop, so it’d make more sense to wait until mid-March and buying one month’s subscription to watch the entire season than to keep it just for that show and needlessly pay for two extra months.

I found the first series as dull as ditchwater, in the minority I know, so that won't hold me.

Silo is progressing at a snail's pace, and not in a good way. The first season was slow, but it kept me intrigued. This time around the story barely moves and there seems to be no reason other than they want it to last for 10 episodes before it ends. I'm losing interest and I don't want to.

Blitz - it is not a well made film at all. Clunky, stiff, a fractured narrative and oddly cold. It was like a breezy Children's Film Foundation film mixed with a gloomy public information film about not playing on railway tracks or steering clear of building sites. The characters were caricatures, the dialogue stank and the messaging was unsubtle. Guess what? War time on the homefront was shit and not everyone was in it together.

I'm really looking forward to new Severance. I loved the first season once I settled in to the feeling of being unsettled by it while watching it. Those endless corrider shots made my head hurt.

Finished S2 of Shrinking. It is pretty good and somewhat underrated, or at least not as widely known as recognised as it should be. Something that is typical of good quality Apple shows, as they seemly have so much money they're not much concerned with ratings and can't be arsed to big up their shows at all.
