A 19 year old member of Front de Gauche was killed last night in Paris. I can't seem to find any details on it except from French language sites.

From what i can gather what happened was that Clément Méric and some mates were in a clothes shop and either the JNR lot came in and mouthed off or someone had a bit of verbal from the other side when spotted. The JNR lot then went out came back few minutes later tooled up...

There's a bit of a both as bad as each other whiff off that article and note how the political context is pared down to next to nothing. Not a peep on it by the Guardian, BBC or C4 as yet.

The incident took place not far from the Gare Saint Lazare at six o’clock on Wednesday evening, outside a building where a clothes sale was taking place.

The skinheads entered the building and exchanged insults with a different group of youths.

They then waited with reinforcements outside the building, where one of them hit the young man, whose name is Clément Méric.

Mélenchon said that "the savage violence that has killed Clement Meric is not accidental", and blamed "a methodically instilled and maintained culture of extreme right groups. [...] The commoditization of Le Pen has opened a space of legitimacy and encouragement to the far right in all its forms."

It was unclear how the fight developed and how many people were involved.

And yet I'm reading accounts from the other victims on French sites. Rubbish.
