Allegations of widespread sexual exploitation of Calais migrants by British volunteers

Can't lose if you don't play. Smart as some eichmannish sorts may be, they will always be defeated by derision and lampooning. Whats the point in engaging? thats the enemy, the only engagement worth having is a 'frank exchange of views'

"Only one danger could have jeopardised this development – if our adversaries... had from the first day annihilated with the utmost brutality the nucleus of our new movement." Adolf Hitler

The problem is deep very deep. What is the problem ?
Sod off, you just don't like me. That's ok, I don't like you much either to be honest. Your problem with me may have something to do with you feeling a bit silly for having accused me of the fairly outrageous dishonesty of posting some other womans photo on here pretending it was me and then being proved wrong. I have tried to be reasonable and respectful with you since then but its getting boring now, lets just be enemies, that sounds much more fun.
bimble. I met you. I liked you in person.

That picture you posted? It really looks like a black woman. It may well be of you. But it doesn't look like you. Or a white woman. At all. Not primarily because of the hair extensions/style, though granted that contributes. But the skin tone, not just colour, but tone. The depth of colour. The particular colour. The distinct lack of looking like any tan, however deep, I've ever seen on white skin. Black women have seen and noticed black women all of our lives and, as all people do, we can spot the things we know at a thousand paces in an instant. That doesn't mean we can't ever be wrong, but it does mean that, in this case, if we are wrong, it's a reasonable assumption we're wrong about. Like I say, I might be wrong. But I can certainly be forgiven for any misunderstanding based on having met you and seeing that picture.

The Saturday night trolls weren't Liam.

It's a naive and clichéd response to trolling posts on these boards to immediately accuse people of being banned returners or existing poster's sock puppets. Like only current or ex-posters could have beef with U75!

Stormfront members have loads of sleeper accounts on Urban75 (they call it Turban75). They boast about them on their own boards. One guy was taking the piss not so long ago about having posted here for months and people still not sussing out that he's a racist. There are also posters here accepted as "well known members" who are Stormfront.

This thread is the perfect target for their attentions and it was almost certainly some of them posting the other night.

Fuck knows why people feel the need to accuse U75 posters all the time. Open your fucking eyes to what's really out there. Anybody in the world with an Internet connection can join and post here. It's not at all difficult.

Not only is that not even remotely Liamos style , anyone even remotely familiar with Liamos ...fanatical..affinity to CoMayo ...home , cars, lamp posts on street, children and dog bedecked in flags...and what's been happening with the All Ireland football final...replayed on Saturday evening after a nail biting draw with Dublin a few weeks ago. After 65 years of failing to win the final, and recent multiple close calls. Not one remote flying fiddlers fuck would he give about this site or the whinging, snide wankers on it on last Saturday night of all nights .:facepalm:

Although I surmise he might give a fuck about a few individuals mouthing off about him being a racist troll .the fucking twats . Haven't told him yet as he's had enough bad news this weekend . Doubt hell be impressed .

In fairness most ..the vast majorityof..people on here don't . It's a handful of backscratching wankers with form for this type of thing . The usual twats . And very obviously without the character to withdraw it. Egos much too big. Can't imagine why though .

Oh ffs, not this shit again.

When she posted that picture she even said "complete with culturally appropriative hairdo". Why the fuck would she say that if she was attempting to pass herself off as black?

You ARE wrong about this. I absolutely guarantee it.

If those accusing her of dishonesty over this don't have the decency to apologise, at least have the good grace to fucking drop it.

You cannot be forgiven for any further misunderstandings unless you are suggesting that I too am party to this supposed deception. If you've met her for more than 10 seconds you should be able to say categorically, it's her. It's VERY obvious. If you know her well you'll know about the hair extensions, and recognise that the room that the photo was taken in, is in her flat.

Stop this bollocks.

It's amazing the lengths to which some people will go to save face (including on others' behalf). Anyone can make a mistake; but, anyone with a shred of humility or decency would have apologised for repeatedly calling someone a liar, as soon as they'd realised they'd got things completely wrong. They wouldn't try to keep justifying it, and they certainly wouldn't refer back to the incident in which they were at fault to further attack the person they wrongly accused! That someone wculd do that and that others would defend it reeks of cliques and bullying, no matter who the target is (which I say as someone who agrees with Bimble on very little).

Until you get caught at it and turfed out . Even the stupidest people know that can happen and as such it tends to moderate behaviour in that manner as well .
Just because there's failures in even the most professional of bodies it doesn't follow that the completely unregulated approach, where there's not even cursory background checks on volunteers, is an acceptable alternative approach . Not that I'm saying that's your position .

First and foremost this inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour is harmful , in all manner of ways. Some of the harms being done now because of the media exposure . Those professional bodies know this full well which is why they have zero tolerance . Those who complain its unfair might as well wail it at the white cliffs of Dover . It's how it is. Shouldn't be happening . And drawing a cloak of worthy deeds around it doesn't alter that .

It's the inappropriate behaviour which is the problem. Not its exposure .
You can't turf someone out of Calais. You can end their association with a particular group (although even that is pretty meaningless as there are so many groups and splinter groups and independents wandering around, most of the residents don't really care who you work with) but Calais is an unregulated slum. If a group tell me they disapprove of what I am doing and I should get out they have no way of enforcing that. I could come back tomorrow.

Plus the people involved are not professional aid workers. The professionals have, with one or two notable exceptions, not bothered to turn up.

That is one of the issues around safeguarding for example children in the camp.... And the reason why there is slight incredulity around this current hysteria. Someone sleeping with a refugee may or may not be unethical (depending on the situation) but paedophiles and trafficking gangs preying on children is unethical, immoral, illegal and revolting. Where is the outcry about that? Volunteers deliberately broke that story after two young Syrian brothers were anally raped so violently one needed surgery. There was *one* newspaper article. We have been shouting about the children who went missing after the last eviction for months... It gets a line at the bottom of an article at most. Everyone who goes there regularly can point out smugglers, both in camp and nearby. We all know which restaurants to avoid because of them....

I could go on. There is no outrage about any of this. But consensual, if ethically dubious, sex between adults.... All hell breaks loose

I'm not here to have a row with you about this. My post stands.

I suspect that furore is casued by a number of things: an understandable post-Savile revulsion at the idea that people would use charitble work as a cover for sexual wrongoing; the idea that, whilst we can't control what the residents do to one another, there ought to be some control over the volunters; and, the immediate response by some people to the initial FB post. Those are undrstandable, and many reasonable people would have some sympathy for them.

But, I suspect there's also some pretty unpleasant contributing factors, too: straight up racism, and the fear of miscegenation; sexism aroud the idea that womn may have more power in a sexual encounter; a desire to see 'do gooders' bought down a peg or two; and, an attack on 'the left.'

I don't necessarily buy into the idea that becasue other worse things are happening this problem shouldn't be raised. But I would have a healthy scepticism about the motives of anyone who chose to do so.

Fairly certain pre-js there was revulsion at the idea people would use charitable work for sexual wrongdoing, or indeed wrongdoing of any kind.

Who is referring back and trying to save face?

Rutita, e.g.:

Nice try love, i'll file this under your low level Rachel Dolezal shit. 'OMG look at my suntan lol'...

... No, the problem is much deeper as well you know, you posted a pic that made you look like a Black woman then claimed it was everyone else's fault that they saw a Black woman.

... This thread, the BLM thread, shall I search for others?...the same shit...you doing the 'ha, ha, ha, I don't understand' shit. ...

... I gave clear examples how you have been a dishonest poster aside from that misleading pic.

She got the wrong end of the stick about the pic. Fair enough. But whats not fair is, not only failing to apologise for getting things so wrong, but, also, using her own mistake to attack another poster.

Yes, but I get the sense (and it's only a sense, I have no evidence) that it's felt a bit more keenly now.

Nice swerve.

To everyone else who is watching this utterly appalling display:

Please accept my ABSOLUTE GUARANTEE that the person in the picture that was posted is Bimble.

Please realise that SHE never suggested that she was black. Others assumed it. She has said repeatedly that she isn't.

Please be aware that what is going on here is completely and utterly unfair.

Ok. I will step away.

Hi Mation, I liked you too! That was a really nice day in the park.
That this bollocks about my selfie is stinking up another thread, months later, after the disaster on the BLM one, does seem totally crazy.
I do understand that people might have looked at that photo without any context and mistakenly thought it was a picture of someone who is not white. However, please remember that when I posted the picture I said 'this is me with culturally appropriative hairdo'. And then also remember that this whole pile of shit only kicked off when I wrote something in the BLM thread describing myself as a middle class white lady. At which Rutita jumped in and accused me of having posted some other woman's photo and pretending it was me.
I do kind of despair at the stupidity of all this.
If there is something I could do to make it stop please advise. I could this evening go and stand in the same spot in my bedroom and take a selfie with a sign round my neck saying 'I am white', would be willing to do that if it would make the thing stop.

You'd have to put the extensions back in.

I really shouldn't have raked this up. Posting drunk about old arguments is seldom wise! I've explained why I thought what I thought. The whole thing is really unfortunate.

Let's not be mealy-mouthed about it; this isn't "unfortunate", but a very unpleasant instance of one poster trying to spitefully bully another, because they're too proud to admit they made a mistake and apologise.

There is a lot I could say about this, but I won't here as I'll derail the thread further. It was a mistake of mine to rake this up again.

I'm not quite sure who you are referring to but I haven't seen a single post saying that sexual exploitation is fine and dandy. Do feel free to link to the posts you're referring to tho.

That's not what i asked. Who are the activists here that have said sex in this situation is not appropriate?

I don't think I know who you're talking about. Are you talking about specific posters?

Is he asking you to identify which posters help in Calais? And what their positions are on this? Everyone on the thread has said it's far from ideal. I don't get it.
