Albania steps in from the cold

Thanks for that Zoltan!:)

AA Gill's piece is crap, as usual, I'm trying to get away from those sort of cliches. Why he bothers with travel writing at all is a mystery, given that wherever in the world he is he seems to comapre it to Knightsbridge!

Any comments or advice about driving in Albania tho'?

never driven - I always use Public transport as far as possible or the odd "taxi". Im sure you will have to get CDW ( as the ameriKans call it ) and would advise having it anyway.

the problem is that there is no road sense - under Hoxha, there were no private cars in the country & only 1 set of traffic lights or something, so its all a bit new for many. The cars arenet that bad condistion in the big schemene of things -mostly TuV test failure 200 +300 series mercs bought cheaply in germany & driven down - they are NOT all stolen as AA Gill seems to think.

Form what ive seen - I would suggest go slow and try to anticipate that the obstable / cart/ pedestrian you see in forn ofyou may act irrationally , so try to think ahead and think laterally about what that old man in the horse and cart could possibley do to fuck you up , and you wont go far wrong.

if you knock anyone down in a remote area -put your foot down, get out and dump the car/claim it was stolen - dont fuck about was the advice I was given. Not sure how it would apply to a hire car driver, but be careful.:D
