A Birmingham and Black Country thread for all things Brummie and Yam-Yam

"It's like we're living in the Dickens era, where the streets are going to be littered with rubbish(piling up) and the lights are going to be off … it's like this kind of dystopian nightmare," Birmingham 2024...

Open at Water Hall, part of the Museum and Art Gallery in Birmingham from now until 1st September....

....a bit expensive I see!

Interesting.
I remember the Custard Factory from the 90s, went to some good music things in a space that was on the ground floor level including one that John Peel compared.
I used to know someone who had a sudio on one of the upper floors so I was able to have a look round there too.

I can imagine it's quite different now, especially with all the developments in Digbeth :( not surprised though, it's happening everywhere.

Good to read that Friends of the Earth in Allison Street are still hanging on at the moment!

on my cycle home yesterday I saw a pygmy deer in a park I pass through. It was dark and (s)he ran beside me for 2 seconds before going into the trees. Got a good look all the same. I googled it later and I think it was a Muntjac deer . Pics and history match (well, according to wild life trust website they were more centered in the south but spreading north - so welcome to Brumm, dear!)

(going to post this in Chuffed-Things thead also because, y'know, Im chuffed!)

You were lucky to see that. Muntjac are very shy. There are some near me in Leicester but I've still not seen one in 20 years of visiting the area they live in.
