Yahoo management drag work back to the pre-internet age

so many beers, too little time

Just spotted that Yahoo has banned home / online working.

Fuckwitted, control-freak pen-pushers want bums-on-seats - like they had before the internet.
Unbelievable stupidity from an internet company.

As someone who spent years commuting 3-4 hours a day to jobs I could do better from home, this just confirms my suspicions that most managers are brain-donors. The fewer braincells you have, the more senior and better paid you become.

My old boss would have hated me working from home, mainly because he knew I would take more than the regulatory 2 fag breaks and also have a snooze in the early afternoon. Thats what I do in my current job. I still get everything I need to do done though.

If it wasn't for the smoking ban, fag-breaks would be unnecessary.
Working from home frees workers from such nanny-state bollocks, together with all manner of focus-sapping interruptions.

The after-lunch "power" nap is key to a productive afternoon.

I did some work for an internet startup that was all about mobile workers renting desk space in people's offices or co-working space. Kind of an air bnb for desks.
They wouldn't let me work remotely. Duh.

7 million dollars later they went out of business.

This reminds me of a recent employer who was very proud of its presence on social media and the like.

And who blocked staff from looking at such from the office.

And who blocked staff from looking at any content considered to be 'travel' related. And since one aspect of my job was crunching bus timetable data, and making sure it got on to the web correctly -
