Wristwatches, watches and watch-like gadgets

Not very happy with my new Citizen, the buttons keep pressing accidentally, which often has the effect of changing the time zone, which also changes when the alarm goes off. That's not a good design.

A bit quiet here these days.

Been eyeing this up recently...

Can anyone recommend / suggest a place that can replace the pin in a seamaster bracelet over the Christmas period, as a walk in, in London, or better still Brixton environs.?
So far tried a couple of places in Hatton Garden, but they don't have in stock and are closing soon for Christmas.

It's a bit of a beater - so don't want to really go main dealer

Did you get this fixed?

Tale of woe is covered in post 1099.

Eventually took it to Harris Horology (then in Norwood, but recently moved to SE5)
Ended up having a full service, as well the the strap fixed. Also got them to sort a couple of Mrs Nick's watches .

Happy with the work done and they were very friendly. Only slight down was the turnaround time: Original estimate was 6 weeks, but it ended up being closer to twice than

I’ve been wearing a garmin surf

Apart from turning me into a physiology stats nerd/hypochondriac it’s got an insane function that has just come on line

The watch itself measures each wave you catch maps it and does all the obviously physiological measurements

But when you hook it up to Surfline (company the surf forecasts and does beach cams)

It takes your data from your surf session, (coordinates/position time speed) compares it with the recorded beach cam footage then cuts and splices all the footage of the time you were actually on the wave, then sends it to you.

Not much fucking good this month as there’s no fuckkng waves but I caught a cheeky session in May

That’s pretty amazing!

Obviously you’ll have to post videos here. Please.

These guys appear to be a great find! Servicing turnaround sounded a bit insane but at least they did a good job.
I do wonder if they can fix my dad's Seamaster from the late 50s....

I normally restrict my Gs to the square but this one is so comfortable and the canvass strap makes it so flexible - been wearing this in the office, out running / swimming. Very cool.

I’ve always wanted a submariner because I love how they look. When reaching a certain age recently I thought I’d bite the bullet. I never knew all about how difficult (impossible) it is to buy one from an authorised dealer. You need to pay about retail price if you want one and need to get it from a reseller. :(

Not worth it now, and authorised Rolex dealerships can be the rudest cunts out there.
What's the price for a Sub C? £7.6K and go on a waiting list for 2/ 3 years?
£10K on the grey market! £10K for a stainless steel watch?

I love watches, but it is getting overly expensive.
How can a Speedy Pro, an entry-level 'luxury' tool watch, cost nearly £6K new?
I remember not so long ago, it was only £1K-ish for a slightly used one (yeah, it was an older movement, but it works pretty well).
A Tudor Pelagos is over £4K! FFS, it was £2.8K 6 years ago.

Big branded watch companies are taking the piss.

Snap! -ish

Bought myself a nice automatic diver a few years ago, had nothing but problems from it. Sold it and got a Seiko which got some mods done to, also nothing but problems; not keeping time very well, stopping after being off my wrist a bit. Gave up and bought a G-Shock, totally the right thing to do, always right and tough and cheap enough to not worry about when doing anything that might give it a scratch.

regrettably the digital bits are too small for my old eyes (and the alarm is near silent).

I find the Sub is the daily wear as most comfortable, practical and robust. Never been serviced, works fine
I hear they are hard to get now because of artificial supply contstraints. Got mine 10 years ago when it was possible to walk into an AD on whim and walk out with a new toy 15 minutes later
