Wingate & Finchley away, 24 Oct 2023, Isthmian Prem

Hak finally seems to have established a preferred starting XI, with just one change from the previous game on Saturday, and again tonight. It's hardly surprising there was no consistency when we were making 4 or 5 changes. We often got locked into a cycle of doing that under Gavin after a couple of disappointing performances, and it usually got worse before it got better. In mitigation, Hak was starting from scratch this season, so hopefully we've bottomed out and will be able to win more than we lose going forward. I'm not getting carried away yet, I always thought promotion would probably be a 2 year project, but we're only 5 points behind the top 5 with 30 matches to play.

We've now got two different cup competitions to deal with, Trophy at home to Lewes and London Cup away to Kingstonian, before we resume league action at bottom placed Haringey on Saturday week.

K's is in the League Cup 🤔

Strong performance, only negative the late goal which made for a nervy final few minutes.

Boisterous away support + three goals = good night out.

Looks like we have a settled first team now, just need to build the confidence, let the players start to trust each other.

WTF is going on with that tiny home support, was like going to Met Police where only family turned up.

Standards are slipping Pink Panther!

Everyone knows we are at home to Sporting Bengal United or AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the London Senior Cup on a date yet to be announced. This was after our 2-0 win away to Erith Town (played at Sporting Club Thamesmead, the former home of Thamesmead United) on 19th September.

If we win that, then we have an away quarter-final at Hendon or Wingate & Finchley, which has cup exit written all over it.

It was announced for the same evening as the Ks v Hamlet cup tie a couple of weeks ago, do keep up!

Great night. We seem a yard quicker all over the park the last few games Riley Scott and Adrian Clifton were right on it tonight and looked different players from a few werks ago. Well done all
Best performance in a Dulwich shirt from Clifton. He was unplayable at times. Hopefully this is the start of a good run for him.

That 3rd goal was a thing of beauty, it’s great we also have players capable of shooting from outside the box, Riley and Luke especially good.

Can definitely see the players starting to trust each other and understand how they play.

We also have better options from the bench.

Lastly - we won so many more second balls, last ditch tackles and blocks than in most games this season . Great to see collectively the team was willing to do what’s needed to grind it out.

Oh and that save from the keeper at 2-1 was unreal. He’s definitely a step up from ruddy. A good find .

Onwards and upwards.

According to the Wingate manager we went long, im not sure what game he was watching.

He doesn't come across as the most confident or inspirational figure. Even by the general standard of post-match interviews, that felt like a waste of 2 minutes of my life. You could probably have got a greater insight from a random spectator on the terraces.

Here's Hak's verdict.

Almost a shame that we have a cup break now because one more win would see us nicely mid table and take some of the pressure off.

Kingstonian lost again last night and are now in the relegation zone, so good to string a few results together at a time when others are going in the opposite direction.

Sounds like someone diving into the cliché songbook. Not sure there’s been much in the way of controversy in ties between us
