White civil rights leader has pretended to be black for years

you have to remember some scumfronters will be trying to work out what part this woman plays in the wider zionist conspiracy

@cos she's obviously shill-ing for ZOG, what with pretending to be a mud-person.

ScumCunters - some of the stupidest and most hate-ridden people alive. I'm surprised so many of the remember to fucking breathe, frankly!

"These people aren't just racists, they're goddamn geneaologists. The average Chicagoan isn't only capable of determining your ethnicity, they have your entire fucking family tree DOWN. I know that it's really rooted in neighborhoods, back when everybody came to Chicago and settled with folks who were similar to them, but boy has it spread.

Once, on the southside, I heard someone scream at a dude for being a "quarter-kike chalupa nigger". Now, there's a lot going on there; that person just ripped on another human being for having hispanic parentage, a Jewish grandparent, and somehow they were also insinuating that the person was black. Then I got a look at the individual he was yelling at, and by God, I think he may have been right.

Chicagoans will never mistake a Puerto Rican for a Mexican person, or a Korean for a Vietnamese person. They have all of the differences down, and they have a reason why they believe all of them are worthless. That's some in-depth hate. Also, if you're Polish, Italian, Irish, or Jewish, those Bear-loving assholes can tell what part of the old country or world your people came from. I was once informed at a street fair that I needed to take my limestone-chalk County Clare ass home before it got kicked, which my granddad confirmed.

I learned something that day. I've also been informed that California Armenians are different from Chicago Armenians in that Chicago Armenians can take a knife to the gut better... and neither of them can hold a candle to those goddamn Lithuanians, who are supposedly un-killable. All of that hate has to be exhausting, and even in some of the more reasonable people from the Windy City, it can stick. I've got a well-to-do, Bible-loving family member who's still never seen The Godfather, because fuck Sicilians, that's why."

Why just lie like that?

I am not sure how much it matters that a mythological figure is non white. but we're back onto the clusterfuck that was discussion on colourblind casting.
Granted the programme was based on mythological characters, but it still served to underplay/misrepresent the role and social standing of non white peoples' within an apparently historical context.

what is more important is to end the whitewashing of British history to the point that people believe there wasn't any non white population here until after WW2. if including black characters into period drama or victorian fantasy helps with that misconception, then i don't have a problem.
I'm pretty much in agreement with that, as long as it doesn't involve a revisionist interpretation that either grossly distorts or underplays the historical reality.

Of a fanatsy about people who didn't really exist? What historical reality are we on about here?

I find it hard to believe that people use skin-lightening products. Not in the sense that I disbelieve you, obviously, just more of a WTF?, and a horror that this still happens.
Yeah, and that the companies who make them haven't been hounded out of existence.

On that 'postponed' meeting:

Dear Dr. Burnley,

Thank you for voicing your concerns about the meeting being canceled prior to the Executive Committee convening. I completely concur with you that a democratic process is the best route under most circumstances. I believe my leadership as President of the Spokane NAACP has proven that I am committed to a team-driven philosophy. However, the email I sent earlier (yes it was from me and not a hacked message as has happened a couple times now) reflected a directive from the national NAACP that left me no choice. As much as I laud teamwork, I also respect protocol. Under the State Area Conference and the National President, we exist as a branch of the NAACP. In order to not risk the branch of the NAACP in Spokane (which has existed since 1919) from being sanctioned or shut down, and out of ultimate respect for the person and position of our AOW and national Presidents, I sent the email announcing the meeting was postponed. I regret that I was not left with enough time to inform each Executive Committee member in advance of this announcement and am truly sorry for any grief or misunderstanding that was caused.

As we move forward to continue the work of the NAACP and advance racial and social justice in Spokane, please know that I am here to be a help, never a liability, to the organization and the Movement. This is a high-risk, low-trust environment we find ourselves thrust into, and I certainly don't intend to raise the risks or lower the trust. Thank you for your concern and understanding.

Yours Truly,

Rachel

My reading is now that she's won key centre people to listen to her and the local wants rid. And she's playing silly buggers with them. Oh yeah, i totally forgot to tell you, executive members against me, that the meeting is off. Even as i tell other people the meeting is off and i have the power to call it off (now i've got my go ahead from the centre).

I applaud your ferreting skills butchers, I'm off on the sick and been on the story all afternoon but you beat me to it. Anyway, if that is her strategy she really is fucked. No way she could carry on or even get a dignified exit without local support. There's also a lack of humility in the message, very bad strategy.

And that lack of humility is proof of her sociopathy.

the problem is that there is so little discussion out there. some revision is necessary, just to start acknowledging the existence of non white historical figures. Like electing an Indian nationalist as a liberal MP in the 1890s, or the role Indian women played in the women's suffrage movement. or whether Queen Charlotte (wife of the mad king) or Phillipa (mother of the black prince) could be described as black. or the history of former slaves that didn't become anti slavery figureheads, eg the composer and musician, Joseph Emidy. it's hard to find out much information even if you know what you're looking for and where to look. and if you're not looking for it, all of this may as well be invisible behind the wall of rich white men.

Dear Executive Committee and NAACP Members,

It is a true honor to serve in the racial and social justice movement here in Spokane and across the nation. Many issues face us now that drive at the theme of urgency. Police brutality, biased curriculum in schools, economic disenfranchisement, health inequities, and a lack of pro-justice political representation are among the concerns at the forefront of the current administration of the Spokane NAACP. And yet, the dialogue has unexpectedly shifted internationally to my personal identity in the context of defining race and ethnicity.

I have waited in deference while others expressed their feelings, beliefs, confusions and even conclusions - absent the full story. I am consistently committed to empowering marginalized voices and believe that many individuals have been heard in the last hours and days that would not otherwise have had a platform to weigh in on this important discussion. Additionally, I have always deferred to the state and national NAACP leadership and offer my sincere gratitude for their unwavering support of my leadership through this unexpected firestorm.

While challenging the construct of race is at the core of evolving human consciousness, we can NOT afford to lose sight of the five Game Changers (Criminal Justice & Public Safety, Health & Healthcare, Education, Economic Sustainability, and Voting Rights & Political Representation) that affect millions, often with a life or death outcome. The movement is larger than a moment in time or a single person's story, and I hope that everyone offers their robust support of the Journey for Justice campaign that the NAACP launches today!

I am delighted that so many organizations and individuals have supported and collaborated with the Spokane NAACP under my leadership to grow this branch into one of the healthiest in the nation in 5 short months. In the eye of this current storm, I can see that a separation of family and organizational outcomes is in the best interest of the NAACP.

It is with complete allegiance to the cause of racial and social justice and the NAACP that I step aside from the Presidency and pass the baton to my Vice President, Naima Quarles-Burnley. It is my hope that by securing a beautiful office for the organization in the heart of downtown, bringing the local branch into financial compliance, catalyzing committees to do strategic work in the five Game Changer issues, launching community forums, putting the membership on a fast climb, and helping many individuals find the legal, financial and practical support needed to fight race-based discrimination, I have positioned the Spokane NAACP to buttress this transition.

Please know I will never stop fighting for human rights and will do everything in my power to help and assist, whether it means stepping up or stepping down, because this is not about me. It's about justice. This is not me quitting; this is a continuum. It's about moving the cause of human rights and the Black Liberation Movement along the continuum from Resistance to Chattel Slavery to Abolition to Defiance of Jim Crow to the building of Black Wall Street to the Civil Rights and Black Power Movement to the ‪#‎BlackLivesMatter‬ movement and into a future of self-determination and empowerment.

With much love and a commitment to always fight for what is right and good in this world,

Rachel Dolezal

tbh "in the heart of downtown" sounds to me like "nice location not so accessible for much of our constituency"
