I used to mostly wear Converse but about 10 odd years ago they changed the design of them and they are too narrow for me. I don't have particularly wide feet but they rubbed like hell and gave me blisters. :(

I now have a pair of Vans low cat baseball shoes and a pair of Nike hightops but I don't tend to go with any particular brand any more

I've always just had one pair of trainers/boots and I would wear them for everything even Raving. Until around a year ago when I got a bit of a trainer bug and now I have a few pairs which I've found is actually better. I am not loyal to any brand, but do like them to be bright or a bit odd looking. Usually get them in the sale too.

I also have a thing for slightly ugly trainers too.

All 'proper' running shoes are hideous. I have no idea why this has to be the case. Last pair of Asics I bought were in a particular gruesome neon green colour with shiny bits on. They were ten quid cheaper than all the other colours, presumably because they were so minging.

Yeah not as keen on running shoes but you're right the ugly designs do tend to end up on Sale. I've got a pair of Yellow, Green and mesh CK's with a pretty ridiculous heal and sole which I got at over half price. They are a bit gross, but also love them.

They aren't all ugly, it's just that only the ugly ones make it into the sales, and thus into our orbit.

No particular loyalties from me. I just buy what fits, looks good (to me) and aren't too expensive.

Currently have a tatty pair of old Reeboks, some Vans and the ones I'm wearing are New Balance.

I've got narrow feet and a high instep so trainer/shoe buying is always difficult. New Balance fit me pretty well so tend just to go for those. (Adidas I always like the look of but find them incredibly uncomfortable. Vans are like boats on me etc.)

Never owned Adidas or desired them but they coming in for the win here.
Any reasons?

Pricing methinks

you can get a pair of gazelle's for less that 50 quid

**edit to add if i'm spending over 100 quid i'd buy more doc martens

I think pound for pound, running is probably cheaper than any other form of exercise, when you take into account the equipment / gym fees / etc of other ways of avoiding dying young and obese.

Nah, that's got to a be a nice brisk walk. At the sort of speed that stops just before requiring specialist footwear or man made fibres in your clothing :D
