MEUTE is a Techno Marching Band - eleven drummers and horn players from Hamburg/Germany who fulfil the job of a dj with their acoustic instruments. The archaic conglomerate of brass and drums creates a new genre by combining hypnotic driving techno and expressive brass band music.

That sounds quite good.
In general, I tend to avoid Brixton Academy these days, as most nights I'm interested in are 'late night' events where its mandatory to be aggressively funneled past a drug sniffer dog.

Conformity is the last refuge of the unimaginitive
I did have an event lined up there earlier in the year but was cancelled at very short notice due to there bar and other staff coming down ill with the same bug. Thankfully i never incured any losses because we got the room and date on the off chance and no money was needed up front. I wasn't even charging much for entry, we just wanted to put a night on and play. Profit wasn't the driver. Will give them another nudge and see if we can do something before the summer season kicks in.

Live music is returning to the Prince Albert in Brixton this Wednesday, with a free show by talented local folk band, Kneytsh.
We did a squat night at the Normandy many moons ago. My first ever set playing Balkan beats. I used quite a few tunes from this lot below. It's a bit chessy and real fun to Dj. Easy to beat match, high octane, bouncy and fills the floor. It ended up a raucous and successful night. Job done!

An addition to the list of Brixton-themed music ventures that I came across today while browsing Spotify. Locally-based jazz bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado has an album out in the New Year called Effra. The single is called Nanban and sounds pretty good.

Only been once as 'Loki' another time about 10 years ago when I think it was a semi legal space. Both times were fun. Wasn't it run most recently by the Fox and Firkin lot?

yes they over stretched themselves, theyve got enough going on at the Fox in Lewisham
this soundsystem crew (id heard of them before, cant remember the name for the life of me) taking it over are likely a much better fit for it... im hopeful
