Can I add my favourite was the Red sea, because the land there is almost all bare rock and sand while the sea is like a forest of amazing creatures and colours.

And the Dead sea / Salty sea because it's just .. weird. Warm and weird. Like swimming on another planet or something.

Actually there's a few I never realised, thought they were just bits of ocean.

Bali sea
Bohol sea
Philippine sea
Coral sea (Australia)
Laccadive sea

All of those without realising at the time.

Apart from the usual ones, North Sea, Med, Atlantic, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, etc. the one I touch most regularly now, and which hasn't yet appeared, is the Cantabrian.

right, i was wondering how specific we're going to get.
so:

1: the north atlantic
2: ... er ...
3: that's it.

i have viewed the pacific and the mediterranean (pardon, the tyrrhenian sea) and the arctic and new york harbor from quite close range though. i've actually been sprayed by the harbor, so it touched me. oh, and i've been in long island sound. and the great south bay.

On a complete tangent, flying to Turkey, observe a huge, absolutely huge, river below, 3" wide from seven miles up. Asked the steward which river, he goes and consults the captain. The Danube. What a massive waterway.
