I was looking at my local paper recently for the year our 3-bed semi was built - 1939.
It's original asking price was £695, some on the street were rented out for £70 a year. An example salary I found was police switchboard operator, £180 a year. That's a ratio of 10:1:2.5 House price/rent/salary
Nowadays it would be 32:1:1 (£575,000, £18,000 and £18,000)
