What films would you like to see?

I have the all the Yakuza Papers films still to watch, The Ballad of Cable Hogue, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, The Man in the White Suit, Exiled (HK).

...and I've yet to start on The Wire.

There's way too many films/shows I'm desperate to see, own, sat on the shelf, waiting my time.

I've never even heard of any of those.

Nor had I until, um, I heard of them, and stuck them on my list!

Mostly they are curiosities borne out of link-hopping on IMDb and Wikipedia - how else would one discover that the Hungarian film industry liked Telly Savalas so much that it simply made its own (copyright-ignoring) ersatz feature film featuring the bald headed American cop retconned for local purposes?

Some were thrown up from reading around other TV shows/films (Joh's Jury/Police Crop/Police State were all thrown up whilst watching Underbelly, the recent Australian drama about the Melbourne crime world).

Others were simply the fruit of an interest in an actor or director (eg Tom Selleck's Lassiter).

Lassiter's shit, but good shit - it's Magnum in a DJ stealing jewels from Nazis

DaveCinzano - what's this IMDb MyMovies 'Must See' list all about? Please explain

If you have an account on IMDb, you can add films/programmes to your own 'My Movies' page. You can then sort lists ('Must See', 'Vote History', 'To Buy' etc).

Access 'My Movies' through the third blue tab at the top; add items to your 'My Movies' page by clicking the 'Add To My Movies' button on the left hand side of a movie or programme page.

Oh cheers, are there any more advantages in having an account?
I use IMDb just for finding out cast/crew details and, sometimes, to read the laughable idiotic reviews just to see how vared opinions can be.

The ability to update/amend/add entries; the message boards; the private messaging system; and voting. I think those are the only major things available to registered users apart from 'My Movies'.

Ah ok - I don't trust those ratings - don't see the point of them, yet many use them when choosing films

I find them quite useful in being able to remind myself of whether or not I enjoyed a film (in 'My Movies' you can order everything in there alphabetically, by rating etc).

When surfing through tags, the aggregate ratings are quite handy in weeding out the really terrible stuff when you're faced with a hundred or so things you've never heard of.

I'd like to see Stanley Kubrick's The Shining on the big screen. I notice even the BFI's new Kubrick season isn't showing it. I've seen all his other major pictures on the big screen - is there some problem with The Shining?

I got Copkiller on one of those cheapo 4 packs you can get in the US. I thought 'Harvey Keitel and and Johnny Rotten, it's got to be worth a watch'. Alas I've had it for years and not watched it.
