What are you doing and eating for Apple Day?

Today is Apple Day. What varieties of apples are you eating, and what apple-related things are you doing such as visiting orchards etc.?

They could have given us advance notice, rather than just springing it on us. I'd have organised a trip to Chegworth Apple Farm if I'd known.

Instead I've just logged on to my, er, apple. That's all.

I've bought 8 each of kissabel apples and laxton superb apples. The kissabel ones are some bastardised hybrid but are red inside so that was enough for me to buy them.

Another way to celebrate Apple Day is to participate in the Apple Wassail, a traditional form of this ancient practice often performed as part of an Apple Day celebration. As part of the practice, bread will be laid on the roots of trees which were then doused with cider. This practice was said to bless the trees and bring about good harvests.
