Waveform 2013 - Cancelled

sim667

All aboard the 303 bus.
So another electronic festival cancelled due to council pressure/red tape and extortion. Councils really seem to be on the war path against live events industry.

They've just announced this on the Facebook page

For those who purchased tickets directly from Waveform, right now we can only guarantee a percentage of your money back, but please bear with us as we are working on several options to help you.
You fucking what?

And it's happening a little bit too often, IMO.

Yeah, agreed.

Im now unable to use £80 flights to newquay, after bangface was cancelled when the council lowered sound restrictions and the sound quality became unmanageable for the organisers.

For £99? And Dreadzone?

yeah but waveform seem to pay everybody in tickets and it has the highest % crew to punter I have ever seen at a festival and that's saying something. When it was in Norfolk the Q to pick up crew tickets was huge and then there were 3 people in the paying Q.

oOOps, [edit]

I'm sure Somerset council were more than happy to impose restrictions that were normal for Glasto that a small festival couldn't cope with.

Waveform was originally a spin off from Sunrise Celebration which used to have what seemed close to a 50/50 punter to crew ratio so I'm not really surprised that was the case.

The chances are a big chunk of the ticket money will have already gone out on non-refundable stuff. For a small festival I can't see how they could refund everyone unless the organisers have personal wealth to call on. If the company has other events or income streams like Live Nation or AEG or whoever then of course they can refund everyone fully. It's shit for people who purchased tickets of course.

It seems to be events of a certain genre and ethos though, glade, bangface, waveform..... all electronic, all ravey events.

i think you need to look at the events individually: secret promotions spent 2 years failing to make glade profitable, i was at the last one and it was somewhat sparse.

if you let most people in for free the few who paid £99 aren't exactly going to feel great, i certainly wouldn't.

a different case altogether.
