Unpopular film & TV opinions

Happy Valley....it's watchable but by no means as amazing as some people would make you think.

I keep seeing that everyone raves about The Bear on disney plus.
I thought it was an absolute hack job pile of shite.

I can't understand why not one person seems to share my opposing view. It's like the lord of the rings all over again. Utterly baffling.

Tarantino's mate Robert Rodriguez is much better[From Dusk til Dawn and The Faculty] more entertaining.

I sorta liked bits of it, but couldn't finish it - too much shouting.

That may be true, but if anyone else is like me at all, it’s one of the only tv dramas they watch so there’s nowt else to compare it to apart from distant memories of Corrie and Emmerdale

Alien 3 is a very good film, but, it follows the impossible high of Alien 2; no weapons; religious symbolism; convoluted plot twist as why they initially release the alien, after its first capture; the white prisoners all have Cockney accents, the black prisoners have American accents. It was always going to be a hard sell.

agree - as is Aliens 3
(talking of which just heard about a much improved 'assembly' cut of Alien 3 Alien‭ ‬3:‭ ‬Comparing the Assembly Cut to the Theatrical Cut )
What an incredible coincidence. I couldn't sleep so I literally 'just' watched an hour long doc comparing those two cuts of Alien 3.
Not sure why. I don't give a shit about the Alien films and I don't think I have watched 3 since an incredibly disappointed viewing at the cinema.

Now suddenly on the morning I get up at 4.30 and watch an alien three comparison, everyone is talking about it. Weird. Are we in the matrix?

Weird coincidence- but I think Aliens, and by extension the other films in the franchise, might have a higher profile than usual right now because James Cameron recently released his second film in 25 years.

All Hitchcock films apart from the Birds are boring as hell.

The Searchers isn't in the top 50 Westerns of all time, let alone the top 10. Apocalpyse Now is not in the top 10 Vietnam movies.

More great films have been made since 2010 than in all the time before that.

pixar films should be banned (along with all other fast talking american cgi kids films)

(funniest Woody Allen film is Love & Death btw
and his favourite of his own films is Broadway Danny Rose IIRC)

Have you heard the play based on William Gibsons script for Alien3? I do actually like the film but this would’ve been good to see as well.

It's a rare occurrence that a score improves a film. Most of the time watching most films I'm thinking "ferchrissake just leave out this half-arsed attempt at film music and let me listen to the incidental noise". I wish there was a mute option for it.

I feel particularly bitter about Mad Max Fury Road. It promises something extraordinary musically and visually but then just drops it and smothers the film in the usual action film codswallop. Considering how well it's made otherwise, the soundtrack is truly dreary and it sucks the life from it.

i was thinking about the Batman film with the Prince soundtrack the other day - i kind of wish more films tried to have a really bold unusual overbearing soundtrack like that. if you dont like the music it ruins it but worth the risk i think
