Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)

This is fucking ridiculous.
Another car show cancelled because of ULEZ! I gather a recent London to Brighton mini run was cancelled because of ULEZ and now the Bromley Pageant.
Many of the cars shown are second cars that only come out occasionally. If you can afford a second car and can afford the petrol to the show, surely you
can afford the £12.50. Not forgetting if your car is over 40 years old it is exempt!
What is wrong with these people; are than just looking for an excuse to cancel :hmm:

All the cars in the photo accompanying the article would be exempt from the charge and I agree, a one-off charge of £12.50 for the much newer classic cars, shouldn't be a problem.

It's also sloppy writing. Any 'vintage' car would be exempt by virtue of being build before 1931! :D

ETA: I suppose they could be concerned there would a drop off in spectators visiting the show who don't own a compliant car.

I think it's pretty clear they couldn't afford to put the show on and found a convenient scapegoat. Anyone with a semblance of critical thinking should see through it, and the rest have been frothing at the mouth over Khan for years and years anyhow.

You would deny someone the opportunity for someone to show their classic and been seen once a year
That really is sad.

Not at all, but if spectators are going to visit the show, it would be a positive if they were incentivised not to drive into london in a non-compliant car. If they came instead by public transport, or in a compliant car, that would be a good thing.

See that the racist Susan Hall is making ULEZ & LTNs a major focus of her campaign for mayor. Think it’s a desperate play and will prob fail - think most Londoners are generally supportive of both.

In her "building more homes" bit of her five point plan she talks about using the Create Streets – Helping you make better places… model. I wonder if she's actually read anything on their website and considered how compatible her plans to scrap LTNs & the ULEZ are.

“Major focus of her attempt to get some attention and headlines”

Congrats - you fell for it and did her bidding!

Yes - I will have convert at least a handful of Urbanites into voting for her! Of course she already had most of us onboard already…

I'd love my road to be an LTN.
So would I but it would seem the road I live in will never be an LTN on account of being important for the flow of traffic. So while the other side roads benefits from less traffic our road just gets more and more of it, as said roads get closed/blocked off.

All side roads should be part of an LTN as the aim is to keep traffic to main roads. Which LTN are you near?
