Nope. If you've filed a flight plan, been given a take-off slot, and haven't rented any storage space for your Learjet, it takes off whether you're on it or not.

Flight plans are good for 2 hours before and after the allotted take off time. After that you just need to change the time on the plan (you can do it on the Internet now). ATC would've just pushed him off to a corner of the airport somewhere. He wouldn't take off if yer man was the only passenger! It'd be a bit pointless.

I suspect something similar has actually happened to several drivers over the years.

I knew someone who got stopped while taking his wife to hospital. He said that to the copper, who promptly announced that he'd escort them there. I suspect he was hoping to catch him out
